a pain in the heel

Is it okay to say that I am getting tired of knitting these socks? I made this pair pretty long and although I'm thrilled to have finally made it to the second heel, I've lost the drive to finish the heel and knit that foot.

All together now: "Go, go, Gryffindor! Go, go Gryffindor!"

(For those who haven't seen this yarn before, it is Sunshine Yarns' hand-painted self-striping Gryffindor yarn. Check my "another weasley" archives for pics of my other socks knit in this yarn.)

Maybe you could go back to your favourite scenes from the books...prop open the book and read while working on that foot...possibly with a nice plate of cookies at your elbow...:)

Thanks for posting this. I have some of the Ravenclaw colorway and now I know kind of how it is going to knit up!

You. Can. Do. It. You. Can.
You can do it.
You can do it.

YOU CAN!!!

I need to get more of this yarn. I kind of felted mine and while they're super warm now, they're not so great in shoes...keep at it, Alison.

I always thought it was "Well Done, Gryffindor!" but that was after watching it half a dozen times and thinking it was "blah blah, Gryffindor!"

I'm gonna have to go back and watch it with the subtitles on.

I keep trying to get some of that fab yarn, but it sells out in a nanosecond!

Go, Griffindor! Go, Alison!

Yes, the second sock does get tiresome, but think of it - you're at the part where the number of stitches gets smaller, and smaller.

I love that part.

But then I'm weird like that.

You know you'll love these socks, so KEEP AT IT! Go Alison go!

Posted by: Frarochvia at May 20, 2006 11:27 AM

Go, go Gryffindor! Just think of the fun you'll have wearing them!

Go, go Gryffindor! Go, go Gryffindor!

All of us who can never get to her store in time to buy this colorway, send you the strength to finish making these beautiful socks!

Wands at the ready everyone, now send out all the positive energy her way.
:)

Do it for Harry....

Too beautifull to stop now! Think of the joy they will bring. :)

I'm winding up on mine too! I still say that's the best part of the 2 socks on 2 circs though, none of that SSS stuff (though, admittedly, they do seem to go on and on...) once you're done, you're done! :)

So love Dani's yarn, thanks again for introducing us all to her! I've got four or five more skeins of different colorways including a RavenClaw that is mine, all mine! (the Gryffindors have been claimed by my mom)

go, go, gadget?

I feel your pain. I'm in the middle of the same feeling on a pair of socks appropriately called "Basketcase." Sigh.....

Weasley is our king. He did not let the quaffle in...

Just as you won't let the boredom in! Ta da!

I guess that's hipocritical, because my Weasley sweater is abandoned. I'm more like Neville trying to be Keeper. *shudders*

After reading your blog for AGES I feel compelled to comment. You are so close! Race to the finish! Do it for Ron.

Hi Alison-

I'm not sure if I'm being included as having received my socks!I have tried to update my profile but I don't know if my changes were recorded. Thanks for your help!

You could reward yourself after every set of stripes knit....maybe a square of good dark chocolate per set? That's motivation for ya ;-)

Posted by: Kathy at May 20, 2006 11:54 PM

I simply *must* have that yarn! I have never knit socks, even though I've been knitting for 5 years, but this may be the yarn that compels me to try. If only I could get ahold of some!

I love these socks!!! I love how your red isn't a solid read but a varigated red!

Oh! I hope you finish them.
Whenever I make long knee-high socks, I will always listen to a audio book. It always helps to break the monotony of the repetition and help forget how long I've been working on something.

I do love these socks!!

Good idea, Becky. I usually watch tv, but as each show ends you do kinda feel each hour or half hour tick by. A book on tape, um, Harry Potter on tape, would be perfect!
