I picked up some more dyeing supplies at IKEA yesterday - a new pot and the most comfortable plastic gloves that ever were.
That was my practice skein. It's not optimal, but it's okay. I'm gonna try the real thing tonight!

wow i like your test yarn! how fun i never thought of that before *grin* to test a skein before i make the actual one to give away. that way twice as much fun and You get to keep a skein! you're making me want to dye yarn!!! what dyes are you using and what kind of yarn? LOL
have fun doing the real skein!
Are you using acid dyes and hand painting? My first attempt turned out OK and I love what I ended up with but I was going for yellow, red and blue. Check it out on the blog. I can see this dying thing IS really a science!
good idea going to IKEA!! their stuff is cheap but it hold up. i saw someone who had bought those refillable ketchup bottles for dye. that's a great idea too.
I love your practice skein! You should use it for a fun project for yourself! Also, excellent idea going to IKEA!
Pretty skein! Another neat thing to do is to use one of those cheap vinyl tablecloths while dyeing. They clean up really quick and are reusable =)
Ikea for dye supplies? Who would have thought?
Thanks for the rubber glove tip re: IKEA! Your practice skein is looking good. :) I'm doing some dyeing later myself...
LOVE the practice skein. reminds me of tye dye. if you don't want it, I will take it ;)
Those are the best rubber gloves ever. I thought IKEA stopped carrying them - glad to know they still exist. Looking forward to seeing your dye results. We haven't moved beyond Kool Aid here, but dying is like felting - no matter how you get there - it is fun and you immediately want to do it all over again!
