tuesday is knitalong day

Attention everyone who signed up to be a sock savior! We're getting to that time where it becomes clear who the dropouts are. Which means that I'll probably be sending out some "desperately seeking sock savior" emails in the next weeks. If you've already got socks on the needles you'd be willing to donate, let me know. That really helps me find a pair quickly for those who are still waiting.

And on to this week's finishers:
Elise sent in a picture of the socks she finished last week.
Jaime sent off her Jaywalkers and received a beautiful pair of socks from her pal too!
Michelle has persevered and finished her socks! She sent Thuja socks knit while spending time with her sons to her pal to wear while spending time with her sons. Isn't that nice?
Nancy donated awesome stripy sock savior socks!
Okay, she's not done yet, but you've got to see the cool socks that Purly Whites is working on for her pal!
Renada knit lovely Cascade socks for her pal.

And a few more beginners have reported in too - hooray!
No pics, but Monique has gotten her socks out to her pal.
Pixie finished her pal's socks. She says there's a problem with them but they look great to me!
Tiffany's cat ate her socks - again! But she's arranged to send her pal some sock yarn instead of having her wait for a pair of socks.

We're at 94% finished, which is amazing! And I know that at least a dozen of the stragglers are still hard at work knitting away for their pals and have informed them and their sock sister. If you are still knitting, do keep your sock pal and sock sister updated. And if you won't be finishing the socks for your pal, please be considerate enough to let me know so I can find a sock savior for them. If neither your pal, nor your sock sister, nor I hear from you, you will be marked down as a dropout and a sock savior will be arranged for your pal.

And a final thank you to the my fabulous sock sisters who are still keeping tabs on stragglers and helping arrange sock saviors where needed. Thanks so much ladies!! Mmmmwah!

I just finished a pair so my needles are free--I'd love to be a savior for someone! and of course, I have more than one set of needles....

I did send a pair to my pal, but I have no idea if she got them or not (i just don't know if she is one of the people in need of a saviour or not--i havent heard from her since day 1 of the swap, so i am unsure what is going on with that--but her socks were sent out on the 2nd).

I've been meaning to let you know that I am one of those few who has not received socks or any communication from my pal.

I am not worried, though, looks like you have it all under control!

Nevermind! I just took a minute to look throught the finished sock links on today's update, and surprise! One of them is the socks for me! I haven't received them yet, but what fun to see the socks and other goodies that are on their way!

Woo Hoo!

I volunteer. I have a pair of gullwing socks on the needles with no recipient in mind.

I've got a lace sock in red KPM on the needles. Let me know where to send 'em!

Posted by: Kit at May 30, 2006 11:28 AM

Wow! That bag is lovely. And well deserved! I'm still hugely impressed that you pulled off an exchange with over 600 participants in it. How you managed it is beyond me!

I am still working on my socks - I was through for a loop by a wrist injury. I have contacted my sock pal via my leader and I will do so again with an update.

I have signed up as savior and I am having one sock on the needle approaching the toe. It is my size (8.5" circumference), so if you tell me the length of the recipient's foot ... I can try finishing this pair for her. Okay? :)

Sigh. I'm still waiting on word, any word, from my pal. I'm not giving up hope yet, 'cause Alison told me not to...but a note of some sort would be nice. :( I'm just getting frustrated here.

I've got one US women's 9 KOTR Conwy sock in Lorna's Laces SS "Jeans" finished, and another on the needles. They were going to be for my mother, so they'd have to go to someone with skinny legs, but let me know if you need them!

Posted by: Sarah at May 30, 2006 4:07 PM

My socks have still been finished for ages but due to money and then scheduling issues they haven't been able to be mailed out (this week though!). I told my recipient though and she knows they're coming.

I've got Appletini socks(one done) and STR Queen Rock socks (1 and 3/4 done) either of which can be done in a jiffy and go to a good cause -- women's size 9 or 10.

I have no socks on needles, but school is out and I can work fast, if you need me. I'd love to be a sock saviour!

Posted by: Janine at May 30, 2006 7:26 PM

My sockpal contacted my husband's blog a while ago saying she would be late...but I am a little nervous as her blog doesn't mention sockpal socks at all. I may need a sock savior.

Posted by: Amy in China at May 31, 2006 8:05 AM

I'd be willing to be a sock savior, if you don't have enough on your list. I have a pair done and waiting.

Posted by: Sandy at May 31, 2006 10:03 AM

Just let me know if you still need sock saviours. School is out for a week (I neeeeed that break from 30 / 5year olds!!!) and I can knittttttttt. I have lots of sock yarn, and lots of needles!!
Also, many thanks to you and your helpers for a great sockapaloooza.

Alison, I volunteered as a sock savior on my profile; I can still do it; I have a pair of Simply Lovely Lace Socks OTN (one finished; about a size 8/9); they're in Lorna's Laces--will have to look up the color name. I'm a fast knitter, too, and can also whip up another pair if you need a different size!

Posted by: alliesw at May 31, 2006 11:21 PM

I've got a pair of ribbed socks otn, one nearly nearly done and the other to go but it didn't take too long to get the first one done. The yarn is Lorna's Laces in Motherlode. The guage is 9sts/in and they're 72sts around, with 4x2 ribbing.

In fact, there's photos here: http://flickr.com/photos/pixeldiva/sets/72157594152471671/

I was going to send this pair to my mum, but I can always knit her another pair and donate these if necessary.

Posted by: pixeldiva at June 1, 2006 5:55 PM

Alison,

I have a pair that are within a day or so of completion in the size 8-8.5 range. They're happy to wing off to wherever they need to go.

Wow, there are a lot of generous people out there willing to be sock saviors. I am amazed. Knitting brings out the best in people!
