tuesday has been uncancelled
Well, surprise surprise, our internet provider admitted to having a wee problem in our area on Monday and managed to fix things without coming to our house and accusing us of breaking the internet. Who would have thought? So no need to cancel Tuesday after all!
Sockapaloooza kept me pretty busy this weekend. With the help of my awesome sock sisters, I've identified almost 20 dropouts and have arranged sock saviors for their pals. All of you who offered up finished or almost-finished socks were great. There were enough knitters with socks-in-progress out there to cover all the immediate pals-in-need. And a big thank you to super sock savior, Ann who (due to my not noticing that I'd already called on her once) has been a sock savior twice over! Check out all the folks with sock savior stars on the big list.
We've actually got some finished socks this week too from Ina's group, including Ina herself!
Ina finally finished beaded rib with bead socks.
Molly finished her socks and sent them out via super speedy mail!
Pam-M. finished stripey Metropolis socks.
Paula slogged out of a multi-layer swamp and finished her socks.
Thanks to everyone who checked off that they could be a sock savior. I'm sure we'll be needing a few more, but we're almost done. Can you believe it?! It has been such a relief this time to know that so many of you were willing to help out forgotten pals. Your generosity and concern that everyone have a successful swap is one of the things that makes me continue this. Wishing you all lots of good knitting karma for your good intentions.

And in a side note, wouldn't you know it, I'm offline for one day and I end up on You Knit What??! Well, it was bound to happen to me one day, but the boys? What about this silly thing? Or these? The pants are even done in Homespun - there have to be bonus points for that.

I am so happy to find out almost all the pals would be getting their socks! My offer to be sock savior still stands ... just give me a shout.
In addition to possibly breaking the internet, you seem to have mothered two of the cutest beings on the planet. (I'm sure they'll deny it fast and furious, but the boys! So cute!)
I'm so glad that most people pulled through with their socks this time around, that's great. The boys are so so cute, I'm glad that their debut on YKW was a good thing!
I admit I was worried when I saw the picture of the boys on YKW.. but it was all good! Too bad it wasn't the pic with the wigs!! Cause she acted as if you hadn't made them!! hmmm
Thank goodness your back! My morning coffee tastes better when viewed w/your site! Isn't just your luck that one day that your systems down that you would out of commission!
I was worried when you said that they were on "You Knit What", but relieved to see that it was a positive post. Your boys are adorable. BTW, my son (he is five) saw some of the pictures of your boys with their new Legos (a few weeks ago). He asked me why they got new Legos, and I explained that they had been really good little boys so they were able to get new Legos as their reward. His eyes got SO big and and said (in a voice filled with awe), "you mean they are REALLY good ALL of the time?!". He still talks about the boys that are so good that they get to buy new Legos.
How funny, Kristina! The boys are good most of the time, but not REALLY good ALL the time. You can reassure your son that they lose points too!
But you're on youknitwhat because they LOOOOVE you! And 9 out of 10 knitters agree your boys are way cute in intarsia knitted things than a man in droopy intarsia boxers, even if there is the promise of a cute butt in there somewhere! ;)
My first comment here...
Love your blog. I've been learning stuff! Also, your boys as Thing 1 and Thing 2 are the cutest ever!
I found that Bernat Boucle has a gauge very similar to LB Homespun, and it is just feather-light. I made myself a sweater from it, and absolutely LOVED it--unfortunately, it was a lesson to me to only knit in the back loop if the pattern says to, no matter how much easier it is, because it was too big--I gave it to my friend. Now she loves it just as much as I did.
However, if knitted sweatpants there be, Bernat Boucle would feel pretty nice, I'm thinkin'.
Glad your internet wasn't broken on your end. Silly service providers.
Love your boys in the Thing 1 and Thing 2 shirts. Just wondering, as I did on YKW?, how you decided who gets which shirt? My kids would fight over it. Birth order? Taking turns? Tell me your secret!
Keep up the beautiful work!
They ended up on YKW as an example of GOOD knitting!
Next time I will try to be a sock savior, but I will have to have socks about half done by the time the call goes out - socks take me a loooooooong time!
Yeah, Alison, but you're one of the few to get on YKW in a good way... count yourself lucky... And thanks for the shout out, but two extra pairs of socks in no way measures up to the amount of work you've put in... I'm not worthy. And we won't mention sock knitting karma again will we...
Whoooohoooo! I got my sockapalooooza box and what a doooozie it is! Thank you, Pam!!! Check it out!

Also, if you need any more sock saviors, I will be more than happy to help out as well. :0)
Yes, as others have said, at least your "You Knit What" premiere was for one of their rare good comments!!! 'cause those shirts really are the cutest. *grin*
I'm getting a little worried for how this round is going for me... The person I knit for hasn't updated her blog for ages so I haven't got any idea if she's received the socks that I sent (nor has she emailed me), and there has been no sign of a package for me. :( It doesn't look too good, as June is now well on its way.
And hey, I received email from my sock pal that she has indeed sent socks for me six weeks ago! So I'll be waiting. :)
I havent recieved my socks yet... sniff.... My sock pal sent me a notice a month ago that she was going to send them soon but no socks yet :-( I will try to contact her again, but if it fails, I know a wonderfull person (Donna of Quiet Life) who deserves a sock saviour star beside her name, because I knit socks for her and she offered to knit some for me to save you the hassle of looking up a sock saviour for me!! :)
