welcome back potter

The sock! I forgot to finish the Gryffindor sock! I found it this week buried under design projects and crinkle.

No idea when I'll be able to get back to this poor neglected little guy. Maybe it's time to pull out the Harry Potter DVDs to get me in the mood. Any other HP knitters out there working away on stalled projects? Know any spells for getting your knitting back on track?

I'm trying to get motivated to finish up a neglected second Hufflepuff sock. I've been commissioned to knit a Slytherin scarf and a Hermione hat so I'll be starting those within a week or so. :)

I'm not an official Weasley-alonger, but I've got a Ravenclaw sock that's sharing needles with a completely unrelated sock. I've ordered another set of needles but until they arrive, I'm not exactly motivated.

Um... haven't touched my Weasley sweater since it was last chilly. I just can't get motivated to work on a wool project when I don't have AC and it's about 90 degrees inside and out...

I'm working on a Quidditch sweater in Gryff colors...going verrrry slowly! Watching the movies motivates me, too. :)

It's not exactly a Weasley (It's an "A" instead of an "H", and I'm using thicker yarn, and I added some stripes on the cuffs and neckband, and I'm using tiny rolled edges next to substantial ribbing for the edges), but your technique for printing out knitters' graph paper from the web and then printing a really big letter onto it really worked well for this, and I'm very pleased with the results. I love your site! But speaking of being "stalled", it's been weeks since the knitting was done....all that remains is the finishing, which I keep putting off.....

We could Imerpius you but you probably wouldn't like that.

Well considering my Weasley Sweater is currently buried underneath a Tubey (which, incidentally, was my very ill-conceived Knitting Olympics project), a design project (why did I choose cabled socks?) and the finishing for the watermelon hat that looked sooo cute last week when the Harlot knit one that I decided to make one myself. So my spell should be something around Procrastinatio!

I've got a skein of Gryffindor that's practically begging for me to pay it some attention, now that you mention it.

Posted by: Beth S. at June 10, 2006 10:42 AM

I'm working on some Gryffindor stripey socks... they're in the style of the first movie, though, instead of the darker PoA style. The stripes are just alternating red-gold every half inch or so, and the red is closer to a raspberry or strawberry brighter red. I love them though! When I get home from school (I'm doing a summer semester that ends June 30th) I'm going to start my summer stockinette project -- a ravenclaw scarf! You should totally pop on a HP movie and knit away... I was considering doing that this weekend! Happy HP knitting!

Mobiliarbus- moves an object from one place to another. Maybe you can use it to move knitting needles like Mrs. Weasley does.

or

Imperio- Gives the caster full control over the person under the spell. Maybe you can find some innocent to cast this one on when you visit the knitting store.

Perhaps if you contact Mrs. Weasley, she can help you with your knitting.

Posted by: Lynette at June 10, 2006 12:20 PM

Pffff, don't remind me. I also have a gryff sock yearning to be knit, but I just can't make myself do it. It's the fact that it's wool and it's 35 C outside I think.

Okay, look at your ORGANIZED WIPs. Not only did I cast on for a new baby sweater w/o addressing the 2 unfinished baby blankets... (oh s**t, I just looked over my shoulder at the mess...) excuse me, must get off your blog and get myself together.

:) happy saturday!

I just started working on my long neglected Gryffindor POA scarf that was supposed to be finished for the GOF movie premiere.. I'm hoping to be finished with the scarf this summer so that I can wear it in the fall.

Posted by: Mouse at June 10, 2006 1:34 PM

I'm still pluggin along on my Weasley and a Griffindor scarf....I'm really hoping they'll be ready when the cold weather sets in this fall.

I've got a Ravenclaw scarf on the needs that's been stalled for a bit. I usually pull it out when watching tv because I can watch the show and know I can't mess it up easily if something happening on the show is making me nervous.

Which is often for Lost and Supernatural.

But I only watch about an hour a week, so it's slow but steady going.

I just watched a Harry Potter movie for the first time last night! (Chamber of Secrets) I liked it a lot, and I've been looking at some patterns. I see a few things I like a lot, so I may become a Weasley after all!

Posted by: Sheri at June 10, 2006 5:35 PM

I got stalled on a Hermione hat when the weather got warm, but I'm powering away again on the first of two weaselys destined for Christmas gifts (This one is "E", the second one will be "G"). I had to watch The Goblet of Fire to renew my inspiration, though.

I forced myself to start my second Slytherin sock (aka Millicent) today. My Ravenclaw yarn(aka Cho)awaits. I have several projects going at once, so I've devised a schedule to keep myself motivated. Baby sweater daytime knitting, log cabin blanket night time knitting, socks go on the road.

Posted by: Jennifer at June 10, 2006 6:32 PM

I have yarn to make matching mittens for my daughter's Gryffindor scarf, but I haven't even cast on for those. I could certainly use encouragement or magic for those! It will be my first pair of mittens in many years.

Ughh! I've been knitting a Weasley sweater at the YMCA indoor swimming pool, sitting in the bleachers while the kids take their swim lessons (2 1-hour back to back lessons twice a week). I'm being smothered under all that wool in the hot, humid, stifling pool air! Maybe it's time to bring a small, lightweight project on pool days...

Posted by: Katie V. at June 10, 2006 7:57 PM

I actually am going to finish my gryffindor scarf. I stalled on it in the second to last repeat. Silly me!

Posted by: Amber at June 10, 2006 8:21 PM

I think the next movie is set for release on July 13, 2007 (tentatively, I'm sure, because the others have all come out in the autumn). I can't find a release date for the book 7, although I'm hoping it will be soon. That's the best motivation I have for starting and finishing sweaters, scarves, Hermione hats and mittens, socks, etc, etc, -- next to early planning for this year's Halloween costumes. Pass the wool and kick up the A/C!

Oh Lord! (and not He Who Shall Not Be Named!!)
I haven't worked on my Ravenclaw Raglan since February or whenever I last posted about it on my Blog.
I did dream about it last night. Dreamed that I finished it and the armholes in the sleeves were sewn shut! What is that about?
I love those Gryffindor socks you are working on. They are gorgeous.
I think the DVD's would be a great way to get remotivated - and I think your boys might enjoy them too!

Yeah watching the Harry Potter movies always gets me back in the mood for the HP knits. It just doesn't feel right knitting on something else. A little magic flows through the knitting while you are watching the movies. That's what makes everyone love them.
It made me pick up my Azkaban scarf after it went into hybernation. I got another stripe section done anyway.
:)

Posted by: Micky at June 11, 2006 11:21 AM

I'm stalled too, on my Weasley sweater. It seems like miles & miles of boring st st. The back is an inch from being done. Maybe when I can get going on the front and the intarsia it will be more interesting. Watching the moive always motivates me.

I have however finsihed one Gryffindor scarf, am half way thru a second and have completed a pair of Gryffindor socks (Sunshine Yarns, self striping).

My recent vacation and the sudden need to knit 2 log cabin baby blankets threw me right off track for my Gryffindor POA scarf. Thanks for the reminder! Is there a spell to just speed up our knitting?
