I crossed my fingers and put my last skein of yarn in the dye pot. The dye gods took pity on my poor miserable yarn-ruining soul and gave me a winner.

dye job
Oooo...the retro yarn is lovely!
From the first photo, I thought it was going to turn out orange/red and green...and I was thinkin' tomatoes. But I adore pinks and greens!
Nice job, as usual!
Donna
Both turned out beautiful! Did you have to pry your fingers open to drop them in the mail? I'd have had a hard time letting go.
LOVE the "80's Retro Prep"! And the other skein is lovely too - your pal will be quite pleased.
I love the darker skein - so glad you reconsidered that one. Great job on both!
Wow, the darker skein is gorgeous!
I'm glad you found something you love!
Lovely! Your pal will love them!
I love the 80s retro prep skein! I just came back from Cape Cod, and the stores are full of pink and green, a la Lilly Pulitzer. You could sell a lot of this yarn there!! I would love to buy some too!
Retro prep is fabu! Great work!
Yay! They turned out great - at last!
Preppie pink & green -- next to orange/pink combo, this is my second fav color combination!
Keep up the good work -- so fun to witness!
Pink and green. A little slice of heaven, right there. I love it!
They turned out beautifully! (We have actual sunshine and blue sky today! Finally!)
Ooh, 80s retro prep is indeed a winner! I adore it.
Gorgeous colors! See it all worked out in the end? Your pal will be thrilled!
They are both beautiful - if she doesn't want either of them, tell to send them my way.
Nice work! Perseverance paid off. Maybe now you can overdye more of the other skeins. :)
What a beautiful job you did! I love the blue-green skein - and I bet your pal will love them both.
They both came out really well!
Oh, goodness, the blues are gorgeous! (Be sure to send the link to Lolly and project spectrum!)
I enjoyed reading your rather-long-ago-blog entry about your trip to Germany. I have lived in Berlin on and off for a number of summers, and am going back there next week to apartment-sit for a friend, so I enjoyed seeing your pics! I have also been to both of the yarn shops you mentioned, so that was fun too. At Knopfloch, the nice lady there gave me an hour long helpsession on the knitting machine...the one they had on display was exactly my model. And at Fadeninsel I bought some Regia-Silk before it was available here, as well as the sweetest ebony circular needle size 0. I'll have to visit it again.
Your blog brought back a lot of memories!
Thanks,
Sandra
i like both of them! actually, i like the older skein more because of the deep colours. too pretty!
i'm getting worried b/c my pal hasn't let me know if she received her yarn or not... i hope it didn't get lost. i'd be really angry!
I love that retro-prep yarn! I was in college in that circa 1980 preppy resurgence, and I'm sure I had a Peter Pan-collared blouse or two with piping to match...
I love the 80s Retro Pop--it looks like summer watermelons to me. Yummy! Did you use Kool-aid to get those colors or more professional acid dyes? They both look great!
Oooh, the redyed blue & green skein is *lovely*.
I was SO gonna hunt you down too! ;)
Pretty!
Gorgeous, gorgeous! I especially like the darker one. That deep shade of blue is completely perfect!
Wow! That skein is gorgeous. I envy your swap pal. Glad you found some more dye-able yarn in time.
