Sightseeing in NYC with the twins...
Look, a giant FIFA soccer ball in front of the Adidas store. (The boys got free little soccer balls.)
And a trip on the Circle Line.
S really, really, really wanted to have those green foam Statue of Liberty hat and torch souvenir thingies. I wasn't sure why he wanted them so much, but they were only $6, so I figured what the heck. Was it ever worth it! He put on that crown, grinned as big as I've ever seen, and lifted up the torch like he was the beacon of freedom itself. And he kept it up for everyone in the boat to see. We weren't anywhere near the statue yet so he sat back down in his seat, slightly bored with the trip, but with torch held high. He stood up again proudly when we finally got to the statue itself.
Then he raised his torch for every passing boat on the ride back from the statue. And for then for all the passengers on the M42 bus. And then for our fellow subway travellers. And then back at home....

Lady Liberty would have been so proud of him! The torch & crown matches his shirt, too!
Alison, that is the cutest story. I hope the boys enjoy their visit. Thanks for sharing!
Omg that's the cutest thing ever! I daresay you got your money's worth....
And there you go . . . NYC (insert amount here). Harbour cruise (insert amount here). Foam accessories . . . priceless. Should you contact MasterCard?? Your boys are an endless delight.
What a cutey! (And the boys are growing older before our eyes!) Isn't it convenient that he wore a matching shirt?!
There is no predicting what will make them happy. Spend oodles on toys they will ignore, 6 bucks on crappy souvenirs and it pleased him endlessly as well as you and my of your fellow passengers. What a cutie.
CUTE! And thanks for actually posting (recently) that they're twins. My husband asked me if they were the other day (I was telling him about the points system for legos) and it had never occurred to me that they might be. It's been driving me crazy ever since.
Apparently, I am slow on the uptake.
Seriously, those to are so grown up from when i first started reading your blog, those new haircuts made me notice it, I think. Have a great NYC trip!
S is too cute!! I wish I was young enough to get away with doing cool stuff like that :)
Don'cha just love the enthusiasm little boys have about life's little props? You're so right--$6.00 is nothing compared to the joy you watched in action. (I'm the mom of two boys--they're teens now, but it wasn't so long ago that they were doing the same thing!)
So what was B doing thru all this? Just taking in the scenery and S's patriotic ways I suppose. I think S might have an acting future, maybe B can produce or direct :)
It's amazing how grown up your boys are getting Alison! They are too too cute!
Gosh the boys are growing so fast! This is the stuff forever memories are made of.
Oh man, your twins are the most adorable!!
Nice! That's what my daughter wanted to do when she went on the same tour...probably twenty years ago. Who knows where they pick it up?
That's great! I am glad you 'wasted' the 6 bucks on tourist junk. Priceless.
how cute! you are giving your boys such great memories :D
It will probably be his favorite toy for months to come! And think of the "sharing" opportunities at school. Yep, Mom took kiddos on an educational fieldtrip over summer vacation. Kudos mom!
send it to the tourist bourgh, they have to use is it in a pamflet.
Did they get older all of a sudden or what?!
