because not having enough time to knit socks doesn't mean that you don't have enough time to buy more sock yarn

I finally met up with Dani to pick up the sock yarn I bought from her last week when she posted the new Harry Potter dragon colorways on her etsy site. (Were you sitting at the computer at 11 waiting to see the yarn, just like me??) I couldn't resist the Hedwig colorway, with its subtle blacks, grays, and golds. And the Raspberry Limeade has been one of my faves for a while (surprise, surprise, it's pink!).

I've actually got three pairs of socks already on the needles (some Gryffindor socks, my dyeorama swap socks, and my retro prep socks)! And none of them is seeing any knitting action these days. And yet, I feel the need to cast on with that Hedwig yarn. I really want to see how it knits up! Anyone else starting a pair of these??

Hedwig is indeed clever! What a nice little haul!

GAH, I love that Hedwig. Must. Resist.

Those are beautiful!

I almost picked up a Hedwig, but that's way too much white I think. If it knits up well, I may cave and buy it at a later time.

You always NEED more sock yarn! That is some yummy looking yarn!

I know exactly what you mean! I have at least enough sock yarn to keep me knitting for the next 3 years...but I'm looking (no, lusting) after Dani's beautiful colors! M U S T R E S I S T!!! ("Resistance is futile!" sayeth the yarn!)

You mean you're supposed to knit up all the sock yarn you buy? What a thought, you are so funny.

i wholeheartedly back you up on that title.

I don't have the Hedwig but I do have the Raspberry Limeade. I'm going to use it for my next pair of socks. I can't wait to see how the Hedwig knits up!

Thank you for the post... I just got back from my Germany vacation, where I knit half a sock, and bought yarn for six pair! Thankfully it mushes up in a suitcase very well. Now I just need to find a home for it here!

Oh wow! I'm sorry I missed them...I would have dearly loved the Hedwig yarn. Will have to go camp out at Dani's sight until I can score some :)

Yes, I love Dani's yarns and got 2 of her dragon colorways 2 weeks ago, so I had to behave this week. But it didn't keep me from being online at 11 either ;)

You know, I have a lot of sock yarn. But I realized recently (don't ask how) that I have hardly any pink sock yarn....a clear lack of a clearly needed color!

Hedwig looks niiiiice!

Posted by: Dorothee at September 5, 2006 7:31 AM

ooh, that Hedwig colorway is just gorgeous! good thing there isn't any left!

where did you get the griffendor sock yarn? My 9 year old suddenly is taking an interest and would love a pair. This would be way easier than two color work.

You know Alison, I could really use a sock class, ever thought of doing it via video confrence...I see all this gorgeous sock yarn and I just wish I could make something of it...but I find socks hard...what with the small size needles and the picking up of sts.
Right now I'm trying the new knitty toe up pattern...but I'm not like the wrap and turn, it does not look very nice on the wrong side.
