ta da!

He likes it, he really likes it. It actually wasn't supposed to be for B. In fact, I was sizing it for a 10-12 year-old boy (that's a 32" chest circumference there!). But it looks so good on him all oversized, I may just change the sizing plans of this pattern entirely. What do you think? It'd be better for like a 6-8 year-old boy, wouldn't it?

And I LOVE the blue. I cannot say enough good things about this Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed: fabulous to knit with, comfortable to wear, amazing colors.... And I just happen to have some in red (S's favorite color), so the boys may be wearing weasleys again sooner than I thought. Say it with me, "aaanooother weasley?!"

I think the "H" stands for "happy" in this picture! Great!!

Oh it looks lovely oversized like that, I can see how much he loves it. Good luck trying to persuade him that it is not for him if you were to decide not to let him keep it, I think you may have a struggle on your hands.

Another Weasley? You're a machine, woman.

;)

Posted by: Jenn at September 19, 2006 9:26 AM

I love it oversized! And you're so lucky that your guys will wear your knitwear! Mine will not under any circumstances. Harumph. 9-year-olds!

Posted by: Ann at September 19, 2006 9:35 AM

It is spectacular and I LOVE the oversized look. I'm thinking I might need to make one for my own 8-year old.

Now I'll have to look into getting the Jo Sharp yarn too . . .

another weasley?? i guess you can't have too many.

so when is sockapalooza gonna start again???

Posted by: Cat at September 19, 2006 9:42 AM

Oh, it's adorable!

And when did your boys get so... BIG looking? :) Two weeks of school and they look like schoolkids!

Posted by: bfmomma at September 19, 2006 9:43 AM

It's so Cute! And your son is adorable!! Love it all big and oversized. I think it's way better like that.

Posted by: Jody at September 19, 2006 9:49 AM

looks great. and i love the cuffs on the sleeves!

Posted by: shireen at September 19, 2006 9:49 AM

wow! it looks great... very cute oversized too! that jo sharp silkroad tweed is luscious. i'm making a wrap sweater in it now and mmmmm. so soft and good texture.

Posted by: amisha at September 19, 2006 9:49 AM

It's adorable oversized. And it will last him years!

Posted by: Monica at September 19, 2006 10:05 AM

Little boys look so cute in oversized sweaters, and the upside is that they can wear your handknit sweater for a little while longer!

Posted by: Nancy at September 19, 2006 10:14 AM

I'm all about oversized sweaters on kids, for two reasons: A) they look adorable B) they can wear them longer.

win/win

Posted by: Ruth at September 19, 2006 10:16 AM

It really does look cute on him as oversized. And he'll be able to wear it for the next several years - bonus!

All this time I was thinking it was for you! I guess you need to knit a maternity version, now! :-)

Posted by: Mary at September 19, 2006 10:27 AM

That's so cute! I love Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed, so I can feel my resistance to making my own Weasley wearing down even further!

Posted by: Donna at September 19, 2006 10:34 AM

It looks to me like "H" stands for "handsome." What a cutie.

Posted by: rachel at September 19, 2006 10:49 AM

That looks adorable...I love the roominess. Hmmm...maybe one for my nephew...

Posted by: Darci at September 19, 2006 11:06 AM

That is awesome! Definitely works being oversized. I want to make a few now too!

Posted by: tiennie at September 19, 2006 11:18 AM

It looks really good! I think a matching red one would look wonderful!

Posted by: Lori at September 19, 2006 11:27 AM

The sweater looks so cute oversized and all I think you may have to make a red one now. good luck

Posted by: lori at September 19, 2006 11:39 AM

That turned out so well! I agree about the oversized look working for it!

Posted by: Leah at September 19, 2006 12:09 PM

Just a lurker dropping in to congratulate you for the baby to come....

I love reading your blog, your adventures in Germany....

And that oversized sweater looks great!

Posted by: Noémie at September 19, 2006 12:13 PM

LMAO - I can hear the hat saying it. I think I need to re-watch some movies. (Can't wait until my boy is old enough for me to read him the books!)
The oversized sweater looks great, and would ensure that the guys would get to wear theirs for a few winters at least.

Posted by: Carrie at September 19, 2006 1:55 PM

Would maroon be close enough to red, with a big "R" on it? Then the boys would be perfectly matched--both Harry's and Ron's Weasley sweaters from the movie version of Sorcerer's Stone!

Posted by: Katie V. at September 19, 2006 2:02 PM

Very handsome!! and I like the sweater a lot too.

Posted by: Lisak at September 19, 2006 3:32 PM

That is awesome!

Posted by: knittingnurse at September 19, 2006 3:39 PM

so great!

Posted by: Julia at September 19, 2006 4:27 PM

I love the oversized look. :) and He looks very happy. :)

Posted by: Saffron at September 19, 2006 5:37 PM

I love it oversized! I too was thinking that you should put an R on the other one. Now I have to talk myself out of making one for myself... hmmm

Posted by: Anne at September 19, 2006 6:36 PM

GMTA - I was about to suggest the maroon "R", too. And the muggles will be so perplexed, since the initials and the 'real world' names don't match up at all. *snicker*

Posted by: Karla (threadbndr) at September 19, 2006 6:40 PM

Such an absolutely adorable kid! (Well, the sweater is great too, but I really think that B's grin is what steals the show.)

Posted by: Wendi at September 19, 2006 7:12 PM

Absolutely perfect as-is on the 6-8 year old. I love oversized sweaters like that, and he looks wonderful in it. I want one that is oversized like that on me.

It looks awesome and he'll be wearing it forever. Can you imagine how great it will look when it gets wore down at the cuffs, collar and elbows.

Could these sweaters possibly replace the blankies?

Posted by: LaurieM at September 19, 2006 7:24 PM

Oh that looks so great oversized. How great to snuggle up in an oversized jumper. I cant wait to see the red one, maybe I will knit an adult size one for my son, he wears a small mens so maybe I can make a medium size.

Posted by: Sue at September 19, 2006 7:42 PM

That is just too cute on him. Now my ds9 has walked by and seen it on the monitor and he wants one just like it but in red!! He already wears XL so kids so I guess I would have to make him an adult small or larger...Good grief the Harry Potter hat only took me forever!

Congratulations on the new baby!

Posted by: emmy at September 19, 2006 7:58 PM

It's great!!!

Posted by: scoutj at September 20, 2006 9:14 AM

gorgeous color.

Posted by: Orli at September 20, 2006 11:50 AM

The oversize look is definitely the way to go. It looks fantastic on him. And, is it my imagination or do the boys all of a sudden look so much more grown up than just a few weeks ago?

Posted by: Donna at September 20, 2006 2:21 PM

Looks great!

Posted by: brooke at September 20, 2006 2:32 PM

Love it. Boys dig oversized.
