bambootie

Awww, the first thing I've knit for baby on the way.

This Katia bamboo/cotton blend really knits up nicely, with great stitch definition. It's been a delight to knit, especially since I'm using my new Lantern Moon rosewood dpns (a splurge from my recent trip to Knit Happens). And I am never disappointed with this Fiber Trends bootie pattern.

I decided to start with the blue, just in case I don't have time to knit another pair before the ultrasound in two weeks. A girl can wear blue, but pink is pretty much no go for a baby boy. I like this blue too. It's not your average pale baby blue. It's so bright, it's almost aqua. And it's soooo cute.

Awwww.

Aw, they are just gorgeous. You're one up on me with the baby knits so far!

Awwwww is right. Very cute!

Awwww pretty much sums it up. So cute and I love the blue... perfect for the blue blog. :)

How do you have the urge to knit?? I mean I know this is your third pregnancy, but geez woman! This is my first pregnancy and I'm just so blah about everything. I WANT to knit, it's just I get it in my hands, and it's like, oh... knitting. And I HATE everything I knit. Is this normal? Kudos to you! You rock! (And yes, the yarn is gorgeous, I'm just jealous and cranky)

Awwww, baby feetsies. Now I wanna knit some.

Posted by: Sarah at September 22, 2006 10:17 AM

so beautiful! i can't wait to see what you continue to knit for this little one.

Posted by: Leslie at September 22, 2006 10:24 AM

So cute.

Posted by: Monica at September 22, 2006 10:25 AM

I think those are great for a girl too! My baby girl would definitely get to wear them...except she was born with gigantic feet!

Posted by: shanidy at September 22, 2006 10:37 AM

Cute! If you don't have time to knit the other pair, you could easily make them girly by just knitting up pink i-cord ties to go with the cutie blue booties.

Picture perfect. They look like they belong in a Debbie Bliss book.

Posted by: LaurieM at September 22, 2006 11:03 AM

Perfect! I recently came across this pattern at my LYS and snatched it up based on your recommendation on this blog. I loved knitting up the little booties and they took no time at all. Fun pattern... and I got to knit them in pink for a friend! I have 5 boys so this was a big deal!

Gorgeous. Gorgeous. Gorgeous. And I love the color. It was a bit nippy this morning and I sent Tansen to day care in your beautiful hat. It remains her signature look. I've taken some film photos of her in it for you; will send them along with your mom. Hope you are feeling better.

Those are darling. Congrats!!

Pretty, pretty, pretty - that looks like the same color I have. Maybe I'll make something for the baby after all. I also couldn't wait until the ultrasound to knit for my granddaughter which is why she will have a hat & matching socks in blue self-patterning sock yarn.

Love them! :-) Can't wait to see the pink version!

Posted by: Mary at September 22, 2006 12:10 PM

Posted by: Meg at September 22, 2006 1:24 PM

very sweet, alison - i love that color. hope you are doing well and we'll see you at knitsmiths soon!

Posted by: gabriella at September 22, 2006 1:33 PM

Wow you're right. The stitch definition is wonderful! I never would have guessed bamboo, and I've worked with it recently too. Not the same kind, but still. Wow.

Posted by: turtlegirl76 at September 22, 2006 2:32 PM

Awww - so cute. I need to get my hands on a pattern like that. Maybe I'll stop by my LYS to find it. My 5-week old doesn't have any booties. I assumed that I'd lose any bootie I made so I never did - now I regret it!!

Posted by: Elinor at September 22, 2006 3:48 PM

those are adorable! i want some for me!

Posted by: joyce at September 22, 2006 4:53 PM

Teensy baby feet and the booties that fit them just make us all squoodgy inside, don't they. These look darling... and smart to have all that ribbing (and ties) so the future soccer player won't kick them off.

That yarn is incredibly soft, isn't it? I has just knitted a lace top using it after having it sit in the WIP basket for a while!

Posted by: Emy at September 23, 2006 6:31 AM

Awwwww ... man, those are cute! So scrumptious, they almost look good enough to eat.

so, so cute! i love the shaping and the little ties.

Posted by: amisha at September 23, 2006 9:46 AM

So cute! I may need to try that pattern for my little one.

Posted by: Emily at September 23, 2006 10:28 AM

super cutie booties!!

i knit a blue sweater for a friends baby and when it turned out to be a girl -i just embroidered some pink flowers on it and used little pink flower buttons. it turned out really cute - and this way if she has another baby and it's a boy - she can always pick out the embroidered flowers and change the buttons and VOILA - baby boy sweater!!

Posted by: michellenyc at September 23, 2006 12:10 PM

Aww so cute.

Makes me wish I had knitted before I had my little one. Instead I cross-stitched, and I'm still working on the birth announcement. He'll be three before the year is out. *facepalm*

ok, so i've been out of touch. i came looking to see if i'd missed another sockpalooza (however it's going to be reincarnated this time, lol) and find out there's a BABY in the offing? congrats!

I haven't read any blogs in a while so I'm a little late to congratulate you but.... I'm so happy for you and your family! I can't wait to see all of your cute baby projects, I know you'll have some great ones.

I'm 20+ weeks pregnant myself and I'll tell you what, if you think it's a girl I'll bet you're right. I've recently realized how true those hunches can be... I'm having a girl. This will be my second child and I had no hunches the first time but this time the feeling was so strong that I was knitting with pink before my ultrasound.

Also, cute booties! I like how simple and nicely shaped they are.

Posted by: Trinamac at September 26, 2006 9:06 AM

I knitted booties during my last pregnancy and found it completely satisfying. And your booties are soooo cute. Good luck with your ultrasound.
