which will it be?

Boy booties and girl booties are all ready for the big news. Any guesses? Watch this space Thursday afternoon for the answer!

The boys are so excited about finding out. S is sure it's going to be a girl and B is saying boy. When I told them that we'd see who's right on Thursday, S looked at B and said 'no switching.' They tend to cheat and change their answer once they see what wins. Silly boys.

They learned how to play baseball this weekend.

coming home!

Wouldn't a little brother be great for them? Then again, if I had a little girl, I could knit something like this for her.

I can't wait to find out!

I think it's a girl.

Make sure and drink a big glass of juice about 30 minutes before you go in so the baby is all awake. Just don't tell the tech you did it or they'll get mad!

Can't wait!

My gut says girl, but I'm generally wrong. All three of my boys, I thought were girls :)
Either way, you are incredibly blessed.. Good luck on Thursday :)

I'm guessing girl, but then again I'm never right. I always feel girl and then it's a boy, but I'm staying with girl :-)

My SIL just had a girl and we went shopping for her on Friday night, little girl outfits are so cute! I hope you have a girl just so you can dress her up.

Posted by: Jenn at October 2, 2006 10:17 AM

A girl would be so 'specially lucky to have two big brothers to teach her all the important things, such as how to throw a ball properly (not "like a girl"). A boy would be in boy heaven. It's a win-win for you all, either way. Stay well.

Well here's hoping that the little one isn't too shy and gives you a good look. With my third we didn't think that we were going to be able to find out, the little lady had her legs crossed. The tech checked one last time before we were done and she gave us a peek. Hard to believe that was the same girl that I have to now chase to get her diaper on her! Good luck either way you are blessed.

Oooh..exciting!
I think girl. Every boy needs a little sister to torment and protect! :)

Posted by: Lynn at October 2, 2006 10:49 AM

haha, with little girls, it's all about the clothes, isn't it? I have a daughter and we're planning a second and it's the same thing: I'd love for her to have a sister, but I'd also love the experience of raising a boy. Either way, your boys are going to be great -- I'm sure they'll be very sweet and helpful and protective of their little sibling.

I'm guessing it's a girl. But I'm also betting that she'll have her legs crossed in the sonogram so she'll keep you guessing until her big arrival.

Gotta love the world wide web! I've never even met you yet was thrilled to see your ultrasound pics with your announcement that day... and now can't wait to find out what you're having! As a mother of 5 boys, I've gotta say boy... but I'm sure your babe will be well dressed either way!

Posted by: Tammy at October 2, 2006 11:06 AM

Good luck, and there will be great joy either way.

Love the picot edges on the pink booties!

Blessings to you and your family.

Hey Alison, I'm joining the twin gang. My husband and I are expecting fraternal twins in March. I wish I was as close to finding out their sex as you are. I hope you get your little girl!

Posted by: Wanett at October 2, 2006 11:19 AM

It's a girl. Any chance of another set of twins?

Posted by: Sharon at October 2, 2006 11:34 AM

I say girl!! But then again boys are fun too.

Posted by: kimberly at October 2, 2006 12:05 PM

I can't wait until Thursday! This suspense is killing me.

Posted by: Carole at October 2, 2006 12:13 PM

As the mother of two boys (three, if you count my husband), I will say that the lack of a daughter to knit for is kind of a drag. But I made up for it when the older one got himself a girlfriend :-) Best of luck and happy Thursday!

I vote girl! You'll get to look at all of your pattern books again as if they were new! So many knitting possibilities, so many new toys, and a best friend for Tadpole!

Posted by: Johanna at October 2, 2006 1:38 PM

Here's how I guess (and I've got a pretty good track record for being correct).
If your tummy is nice and round like you swallowed a basketball, then it's usually a girl. If your tummy is thick from side to side, and you look kinda like you swallowed a watermelon, it's usually a boy.

I can't wait to find out either, and I don't even know you! You sure it's not twins:) I will look forward to Thursday.

Little girls are so much fun to buy & knit for. My granddaughter (who will be born 11/17 - planned C-section) will be the best dressed baby girl in the Chicago area. Not only have I been shopping for her (2 grandsons) but so has her Mamaw in Mississippi (3 grandsons) & my duaghter (pregnant Mom) has been too. I hav also been using up all my leftover sock yarn for hats & baby socks. I am anticipating the big announcement here. My grandsons (esp the 3 year old) have taken to calling the baby Julia - they insist that that is what she should be named (it's not even being considered but my other DD, their aunt, is very flattered).

My vote is for girl as well - and that seems to be the way the comment tide is flowing today, LOL! The booties came out wonderfully!

Posted by: Amanda at October 2, 2006 4:35 PM

How fun! Either flavor would be amazing, though I'll admit that girl babies offer slightly more creative knitting opportunity. Though when they get a little older, all bets are off - you could just as easily end up with a tomboy as a girly girl.

Those girl booties are so cute with the little picot tops, but I would have to look at the bump again to guess with any amount of certainty. Any chance we can have another pic of the belly before Thursday?

Posted by: Katherine at October 2, 2006 4:59 PM

My gut's going with boy. Heaven knows, after this long I know to listen to my gut. We'll see if it's redeemed itself - I was 8 for 8, and then I missed one.

Posted by: Anne at October 2, 2006 6:19 PM

I am hoping for you it is a girl. I always thought that boys sit higher up and girls are lower down, at least that is how I was. Boys always do funny things like changing answers, mine still does and he is 12 yrs old. See you Thursday to find out the wonderful news.

Posted by: Sue at October 2, 2006 7:16 PM

OK, so the nurse in me says "I just hope that everything goes well and that everyone is healthy and happy" BUT. . . . the girl in me is secretly (well, not SO secretly) praying for a girl for you. I think the boys would be such cute big brothers to a little missy!

Good luck!

BTW, how are you feeling these days????

Posted by: knittingnurse at October 2, 2006 8:13 PM

Hmmmm, either way, it'll be so much fun! Those little wrinkles, smooshed faces, cone-shaped heads... tiny little hands and feet with teensy weensy fingers and toes...

I miss it! Enjoy!

Isn't it funny and wonderful that whatever gender our babies turn out to be -- they're perfect! I'm guessing a boy. :)

Posted by: Becky at October 2, 2006 9:58 PM

My two granddaughters has a $5 bet on the sex of the baby. When i told the the 5 year old she had a brother, she was happy and she won the bet. The 2 year ols lay on the floor and had a massive meltdown, not because she hasd a new brother, but because she wanted $5. They both won the money and love their brother very much!

Since I'm in my ninth month of our first child (sex to be determined at birth), I will wish for a healthy baby, of either sex. But then, I love to see older brothers and younger sisters, so I'll cross my fingers for a girl. Best wishes for an uneventful 9 months (well, less than that, now!)

How exciting! And how nice of you to share this with your readers! :-)

Posted by: Mary at October 3, 2006 9:35 AM

two boys is plenty imho. they can learn some nurturing for a sister. I vote girl.

Posted by: Orli at October 3, 2006 10:22 AM

I vote girl. Just a feeling!

Posted by: anne at October 3, 2006 5:51 PM

It's a girl! It's a girl! I promise. lol

Posted by: Laura at October 3, 2006 8:54 PM

I think a girl. No reason except that I love the picot edging on the pink booties!
