a day at the fair

Okay, so going to the Topsfield Fair on the last day it's open, on Columbus Day, and on an unusually beautiful, sunny and warm day was not the best idea. Let's just say, there were a few other people who had the same plan. We were in line to pull into the parking lot for 1 1/2 hours. Plenty of time to take some pictures of the fall scenery.

When we finally made it in, the boys knew where they wanted to go.

Four rides on the fun slide! Then, off to see the funny pumpkins.

A few bunny rabbits, a cow or two, some ice cream and it was back to the rides.

It's nice when the boys get a day off school and can spend it with mommy again.

I grew up in Boxford right next door to Topsfield. I have attended may a fair and was thrilled to see it mentioned. Hope you had a great time.
Congratulations on the new baby

1.5 hours in line to park! Whoa! We live in Danvers, right next door to Topsfield, so we always go on a weeknight to avoid the crowds...I had no idea it got that busy on weekends! Wow.

Your boys are looking so grown up now! Seeing how they have grown makes me realize how long I have been enjoying your blog.
Thank you!

Crazy. The boys look so big now... they have "kid" faces now, not just "baby" faces, if you know what I mean. (More angles, I guess.)

I've never been to the fair. Maybe next year? It sure sounds like fun, despite the awful traffic.

Oh, the Topsfield Fair. My mom and I used to go every year on her birthday. It was so much fun. I haven't been since I moved away from Boston, nearly 10 years ago. Looks like you and the boys (and girl) had a lovely time. :)

I've lurked here forever but just had to post when I saw the Topsfield Fair stuff...brings back so many memories. I grew up in Essex and Topsfield Fair was always such a big deal. I really miss the area....thanks for the pictures!

Hi Alison! So happy for you about your girl! I too, had a little girl after two boys and it makes for a great family.

My DD almost got to Topsfield fair, but apparently a sporting eveng in Maine wore her out. The State Fair in Texas is TOOOO big to miss, but also too big to manage. I think Topsfield looks more rational. Thanks for the beautiful seasonal photos.

Alison:
i love your pattern for the Harry Potter sweater. A dear friend made one from the Scottish company's original pattern for my son. Unfortunately, he has outgrown it. Now that I am a beginning knitter, I am thinking of knitting a new one for him. You mentioned a bulkier yarn possiblity?? Would this be worsted weight?? Bulky??
Help!
