doll-making

I couldn't resist the girl-baby knitting any longer! After seeing Jess Hutch's knitted robots on the cover of the new Craft magazine, I remembered the little knitted toy pattern book she published last year (it's out of print now, so sorry, I don't know where you can get it anymore), flipped through it, and found this pattern for an adorable little dolly.

A quick trip to the yarn store and I was back home with Classic Elite Bazic in the perfect colors!

A few hours with the Knitsmiths and I had the little body almost done! She's so cute, I can barely stand it. Next up, buying some safety eyes and starting her little yellow dress!

In fact, Knitsmiths was a flurry of doll-making this weekend. Lisa was working on Jess Hutch's Kate doll from Knitty and Johanna was getting started on this cow doll (with crocheted udder!!) from a Bouton D'Or pattern book. What fun!

I just love that book and the toys go together so quickly! Your new baby will love such an adorable doll.

I made that doll for my friends 2 year old and she loves it. I made 3 different dresses, so she can swap and change them (or make someone else do it for her in her own demanding little way!)

I'm so sorry that I missed out on buying the Jess Hutch pattern book. Once I discovered it, it was too late. That's going to be one cute doll. And the Bazic is perfect for it. Love the superwash.

Too bad about the out-of-printness of that booklet. I was happy to see "Kate" in Knitty and finished her up in Encore worsted for a friend's first grandchild, and very cute she is (the baby, too!) The Encore stretched so much that the stuffing showed, so I had to go down quite a few needle sizes. How's it going with the Bazic?

That will be a lovely little dolly for a baby. How sweet.

I stumbled upon Bazic at a sale or something and ended up loving it! It is unassuming in the skein and then while I knit with it, I don't know if it is the little extra texture or what, I wished I had more for projects.

I love that book. I've made Spherey twice, and the bear once for my cousin. So cute!

How cute! I MUST HAVE the book! Congratulations on your pinkness! You'll have such a great time with a girl. I have two and love almost every minute of it! LOL

I love the Jess Hutch patterns. I haven't made the doll yet, but I've pledged to finish every pattern in the booklet within my daughter's childhood. Spherey is one of my personal faves and makes a great baby shower gift.

Very sweet. What fun to knit for a girl! I love the cow doll w/udder. I can just imagine some baby teething on those little nubs. Makes me giggle.
