the first seam is the longest

Let the pumpkin sewing begin!

first long seams down the body

armhole openings at the sides

closing up the circle

empty pumpkin shell waiting for a little person

The boys are going to decorate the faces on their own. We've got some black felt and fabric glue and they're going to cut out triangles and mouth shapes and stick them on by themselves. Can't wait to see how that comes out!!

Next up for me is all the elastic around the top and bottom and then the leaf collar and stem hood. The leaf is the boys' favorite part.

They're so excited!

Good grief! I think my heart is about to explode from the cuteness!

So. Very. Cute. I can't wait to see the pumpkin faces!

Oh that is adorable. It's gret that you are letting them do the faces!!!

I don't know how you do it. This year I told Superboy, "How about you be a Tae Kwon Do Kid!" (and just wear his uniform! lol)

I'd be excited, too, if I got such a super pumpkin costume! Those are going to be awesome.

The leaf is very cute. Hey, save it, they could be strawberries next year!

Great sewing job! Something to look forward to when I have kids.

they are so cute. it's so much better when they really anticipate it. makes it easier for you to do, and striving more for that perfection ;)

Awesome pumpkins, they look warm too, very important in our neck of the woods, you always had to make sure you could hide several layers of clothes under your costume as a kid.

How very cute! I remember my mom making a stuffed pumpkin costume years ago for my sister and this really brought it back.

Off subject, but I saw you planned to do another Weasley sweater. Do you think this one will be a KAL? For those of us who haven't tried one yet, but who have an inappropriate amount of excitement over a Weasley sweater? Just curious- you're so fab at these KALS (a little flattery never hurt, right? And it's true!)!
Thanks! Gorgeous pumpkins!

I cant wait to see how your little pumpkin costumes turn out. I am sure they will be adorable, and you are such a great mom for making their costumes too. What lucky boys they are.

So cute! I was hoping to make pumpkin costumes for my boys this year, but my 7 month old is a catnapper these days. Maybe next year!

I'll be excited if I'm getting a pumpkin costume for Halloween. =)

Too fun! I've done a few costumes, and it's cool to see the kids amp up the closer you get to done. ;)

I am ever impressed that you make their costumes every year. I wish they could come trick or treat in my neighborhood!

Posted by: reese at October 27, 2006 6:24 PM

yeah, I like the leaf best also...it's reminds me of period movies...I wish I could use a sewing machine as good as you do...can't wait to see them all dressed up.
