Oh my, that picot edge went slowly! Four hours at least. I don't believe I spent more than twice that amount of time knitting the whole rest of the sweater! I do really like it though, all pretty and picot-y. And I found the ribbon at Colorful Stitches this weekend, all purpley and velvety.

koigu baby coat
It is so gorgeous and girly.
The velvet ribbon is just perfect.
Very cute! Your baby girl will be the best dressed baby!
That is so cute! Love the ribbon and the picots and the Koigu! :)
Ohhhh. That is precious. Almost makes me wish my ovaries were still in business.
The finishing is what kills me. These baby knits are so quick. Until you get to the dang finishing!!!
that is so precious! knitting for girls is so much fun!
Awww.. I love the ribbon. Your little one will be nice and warm in this!
That sweater is absolutely adorable. You are so making me want a girl!
Aaaaaaaa! *thud* Daid from the cute.
Oooo. So cute. You're little girl will be so well dressed. Babies are the best thing ever to knit for!
adorable! i wouldn't have guessed from the skein how that koigu would knit up... it's really nice. and i love the ribbon!
Gorgeous!
I'm so glad you get to experience Pinks and Purples! :)
Wow the picot really makes it! Totally worth the time! The velvety ribbon is perfect!
Baby girl knitting is so much fun!
That is so stinkin' cute!!!
oooh, I love it. The ribbon really makes the sweater. I'm sure that was a nice contrast to all that pumpkin sewing!
Never one to be the voice of dissent I whole-heartedly add my "lovin' it" to the chorus.
Lucky baby on the way!!
I'm interested- you showed two skeins of Koigu earlier. Is that all this took? I'd love to have a pattern for 2 skeins, as my sock yarn stash is a bit ridiculous, and I don't wear socks that often.
The ribbon is a great compliment for it!
I'm sure that you'll find afer two boys that shopping is a lot easier and way more fun with a girl.
Oh my goodness that is beautifully sweet.
So adorable - and well worth the picot-y effort!
It is absolutely beautiful!
That is so sweet it makes my teeth hurt!
I didn't knit when my girls were babies. Such cute little things!
What a sweet little coat!
Gorgeous! But yes, picot is the devil!
It's beautiful Alison, and the ribbon really made that finishing touch! As a knitter expecting a little one in March (perhaps a girl, but the ultrasound was not conclusive on that)I'm finding your blog extra enjoyable these days:-) I've just started my first little baby garment, and so I guess it's time for me to ask if I can joun the babybumber-knitalong? I'm blogging in Norwegian in my own blog, but of course for the knitalong-blog I'll use English;-)
That is such an adorable little coat! I love the velvet ribbon.
Oh, that is just adorable. You are going to have the best-dressed baby girl in all of the Boston area.
Cuuuute cute cute! I just love the purple velvet ribbon - anything to cut the pastels a little. All in all a cute little jacket!
The picot compliments the garter stitch so well! Yeah for girly knits!
Very very sweet. I love the ribbon- gives it that extra something special.
so cute! I love the ribbon.
ooooo - so darling! Can't wait to see it on the actual baby. What a lucky girl she is to have such a talented and fast-knitting mamma.
Aww, it's so cute! I love the ribbons and the picots!
Très adorable! I love it! Perfect little colour between the ribbon and the yarn.
The sweater is adorable and the ribbon is perfect... all velvety and perfectly textured. Having a girl is wonderful to knit and shop for!
Hee!!! So fracking cute. Oh you must knit this coat in Simply Baby by Debbie Bliss. I'll have to find the pattern name. I saw it today. And holy cuteness!
That is SO cute! Love the ribbon.
I love the simplicity of the sweater and how great the picot edging and ribbon look. It may have taken four hours, but darn it, it was worth the work!
OH! That IS completely adorable!!!
its so beautiful and so girly! i love it.
Adorable! The picot may have been a pain, but it was worth it.
Wow, that is really cute.
But I have ulterior motives. I'm sorry that I couldn't find another way to contact besides commenting in your blog, but...I'm writing a pattern following tutorial for the LiveJournal community weasleysweaters. The boss person suggested that I give an example that community members would really enjoy for following charts and mentioned your weasley sweater pattern specifically. Would it be alright by you if I mentioned your pattern and used it as an example?
What can I say, it is gorgeous, and I love the purple velvet ribbon too, sets it all off very nicely.
Gorgeous. And seeing you put this together inspired me to finally seam up a garter stitch sweater of similar construction I knitted in June for a baby present (baby's not due til January). Thanks! And, it turns out the seaming wasn't so bad once I was in good light.
what a beautiful sweater. she's going to be a lucky girl!
Love it, even if it isn't my 1st choice of colors...and I'm a huge fan of velvet.
Knits like that are why I wanted a girl when I found out I was pregnant last year... not because I really wanted a girl, but because I really wanted to knit for a girl!
Lovely little knit well done you.
Oh my that is just adorable. I have kind of searched your blog (but with a toddler hopping on my lap LOL) and I can't find the pattern anywhere. It kind of looks like Debbie Bliss but I dunno. I would love to make this for my little one. I'll just have to sit down and read all of your blog :) You do such beatiful work, just lovely.
I love purply colours and that is just about the sweetest little sweater ever for your baby girl. It must be wonderful to be able to make girly things as there seems to be so many more choices for girls than boys. Lucky, lucky girl to have a Mama that is so talented.
