it's beginning to look a lot like christmas
My favorite Christmas album playing on the ipod.

Presents wrapped and ready to ship to the in-laws abroad.

The fire hydrants have their snow flags.

The boys made candy houses after school.

And I can cross one more present off my knit gift list!

I went for a good manly length of 40 inches on the man's cashmere scarf, just enough to cross over your neck and tuck under the lapels of a manly jacket. It only took me two and a half balls of the Cashmerino Aran and four days to knit this one. (Gotta credit an unexpectedly warm day and long playground session yesterday for the early finish.) It has to be sent too, so it's good that it went quickly. A perfect Last Minute Knitted Gift, I'd say!

knitty little christmas
Love the scarf - and the boys did a great job on their houses!
Hey, that's my favorite Christmas song too! My 6-yr old Sweetie Girl's favorite is "Mary, Did You Know?" Here's hoping your family has a very merry!
Love the scarf, what pattern did you use? Don't you just love it when most of the Christmas presents are out of the way, and you have time to enjoy the season!
I LOVE Clay's Christmas album. I saw his concert last December. Ahh, the memories.
I love the scarf too. I know someone who could use that scarf.
OMGosh, I want to live somewhere where you get enough snow for the hydrants to warrant snow flags.
Wow I'm a southern girl, I had to look really hard to figure out what a snow flag was!
I love the stitch pattern you used on that scarf! It's a very manly color, too. I'd like to know what pattern you used, also. Great work!
Oh yeah, I totally love that the hydrants get snow flags. It sort of makes them look like little kids holding signs, "I'm here!". In November the firemen come around and put them all on and then whenever it snows deep enough, they drive around and shovel out the hydrants, just in case.
As always, follow the archive link for pattern info.
I love the scarf!! -- and, of course, had to purchase some cashmerino aran to make one, too. For whom? well that's a good question. So what size needle did you use? The 11 called for in the book just seems too big and I'm thinking an 8 or 9 would be nicer -- thoughts?-

The boys' candy houses are wonderful! Enjoy those traditions!!
Yes, Heidi, I used a smaller needle of course. I used a US8 and cast on 35 sts to adjust for the smaller gauge.
Beautiful scarf. I'm just blog hopping knitting blogs to get some inspiration. Merry Christmas to you!!
love the scarf, i just made the same one! did you have problems with it curling on the sides though? grrr, i'm hoping my blocking job fixes that (will see tonight)
