yellow is a boy's best friend

The ticker says it's time.... but until things get going, work at the blankie factory continues.

The yellow strip of B's blankie is complete. Boy, did that take longer than the others! It was that seed stitch rib pattern, but I think it was worth it. I like the look of it, although I still haven't quite overcome my dislike of the yellow. It's just not the prettiest yellow in the crayon box, you know. But B is very excited about it and that's what really matters.

Meanwhile, S is loving his new blankie. He regularly feigns tiredness so he can grab some cuddle time with it on the sofa each day.

And wee one's blankie waits...

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long! Meanwhile, I've enjoyed seeing all your blanket projects. :o)

Lots of good wishes from England! Rest up and hope everything goes well. Love the blankies and beautiful son to match! :)

It may have taken longer, but you're right, the seed stich ribbing was worth it. Same goes for the wee one ... it may be taking longer, but it'll be soooo worth it. :)

Amazing work with the blankets !
Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy, I'm guessing the birth is going to happen very very soon ! So exciting !

Kids and their blankies are too sweet. What a great mother you are to make sure all your little ones have one!

Every time I see a new post from you, I wonder whether its The One.

;-)

Posted by: claudia at March 5, 2007 9:46 AM

I hope wee one makes her appearance soon ... the waiting can be so hard!

Posted by: Ruth at March 5, 2007 10:19 AM

Great start on the blankie. Love the seed stitch rib. We're crossing our fingers that your dear little one comes soon and easily. Best of luck!

I think Wee one's waiting for you to finish B's blankie! Hope it goes fast:)

Seed stitch is a huge time sink.

Posted by: colleen at March 5, 2007 10:40 AM

Did you knit the blanket (and all that seed stitch) continental? I hear it goes faster that way....

Posted by: Mary at March 5, 2007 10:43 AM

There were three days between your last and present post and I was beginnning to think (hope) that maybe your time had arrived.

In your area, how long overdue do the doctors allow before they decide to induce?

Posted by: Chantale at March 5, 2007 11:26 AM

My daughter's favorite color is yellow, too. It's very hard to find pretty yellow for knitting--expecially for clothing! I've had luck with holding two different yellows together. But your seed stitch block looks sweet and just perfect for a favorite blankie. Best wishes, go to sleep (number three really makes a HUGE difference!!).

I knew you were due around the same time as my sister-in-law, but not the same day! That's a little funny.

She's being induced tomorrow because she has some risk factors they don't want to flirt with. She's just glad they let her get to her due date before inducing. She wanted a chance to go on her own after being induced with her first.

Sending you those easy birth and healthy baby vibes!~~~~

I think that yellow is fab...Canery yellow and the blue next to it will also make a difference.
as for wee one...i'm quite amazed, that after having twins you still carried the full monty...boy...well, she'll be well done when she arrives, here's to an easy delivery.

Posted by: Orli at March 5, 2007 11:43 AM

That end part is the hardest- I assume with the boys that you didn't make it full term (sorry if that is a false assumption). I was very early with my first, and my second came 3 days before her due date. Gotta love trying all of those old wives remedies, though...

Wow, congrats on making it to 40 weeks. The blankets look wonderful. My 4y/o's favorite color has always been yellow.

Good luck!

Come out, come out, little one! You have a wonderful mama to meet, brothers who would love to grin at you, and soft, beautiful knitting to keep you warm.

Now is when I would start driving my car up and down a very bumpy road. The last week or 2 is so uncomfortable. But then it's over and you miss it!

Hmm. I'm a big numbers girl. What day sounds good for a birthday?

Liking that one!

Posted by: Lynn at March 5, 2007 2:47 PM

Good luck & hang in there!!

Posted by: Kristina at March 5, 2007 2:51 PM

Have you given the wee one her 40 week eviction notice? I have three, and I know with the youngest, he needed to be told, and reminded he only had a 40 week lease, non-renewable. Once he got the picture, he was out in a hurry (6 hours as opposed to the 30+ hours with each of his sisters.)

God Bless and good luck to you!

Posted by: PICAdrienne at March 5, 2007 2:52 PM

If you wait one week, lil girl and I will have the same birthday...just throwing that out there (clearly I've never been 9 mos. pregnant telling you to wait a week...).

Sending you good thoughts!

Posted by: Silvia at March 5, 2007 2:57 PM

Hang in there! My son was two weeks late and they decided to induce him. The day for the induction rolled around and he decided not to wait for the doctor and started up the contractions.

So, moral of the story, pick a date and maybe the little one will get the hint. :)

Good luck!

I logged on today, expecting to see some baby news from you...glad to see you are at least being productive as you wait! I would be just watching the clock tick :) Love the blankets! Hope the little one comes soon!

Keep walking!!!

Posted by: Sarah at March 5, 2007 4:27 PM

I've never even met you and I'm looking forward to the birth of your daughter! Love the counter and the blankies. Hope you're comfortable. I'll keep checking up on you!

I like the pale custard yellow, and that from a non-yellow person. Pattern looks good too. 40 weeks! Hope things start soon - they will of course. And thanks for resenting invite to Knitty Baby Blogger Bumpers. Much appreciated.

Posted by: susan at March 5, 2007 6:48 PM

I can't help but wonder when I come to check your blog if this will be the day, the ticker says so, you say so, now the baby needs to say so too, right! Wonderful blankies, you deserve a blankie award.

Posted by: Danielle at March 5, 2007 7:18 PM

40 weeks-- wow, that went fast! I'm wishing you all the best for a smooth & uneventful delivery!

Posted by: Bethany at March 5, 2007 8:53 PM

From one pregnant woman to another, I hope it's a nice and easy birth for you!

From one doula to all the pregnant mommies out there, I beg you to remember that the "due date" is only an estimate, and that just because it's come and gone doesn't mean the baby is ready to be born. Babies aren't officially overdue, even by ACOG standards, until 42 weeks. Due dates aren't exactly presented on a pair of tablets from a mountain, though with the rates of induction in this country, you'd never know it. Blah.

Be patient - I know it's hard. I'm hitting my patience level with this pregnancy, too, and my last birth had to be kickstarted with a healthy dose of castor oil. (Very effective for me, btw.) I was about 2 1/2 weeks past my due date, though. Good luck!

40 weeks!? Any time now.
I love seeing your boys with their handknits. It is so heartwarming.
Thanks for keeping us all posted.
