starting

Although baby L is letting me get a little knitting done these days (a very little!), I can't seem to finish anything. All I manage to do is start quickie projects. After starting (and not finishing) the anime hat, I decided to start a hat for a classmate of the boys' whose mom just had another baby.

I figured the Last-Minute Knitted Gifts children's cotton hat would be simple enough for me to get done quickly. Wee one and I went out to Black Sheep Knitting and while she slept...

picture removed at request of store owner

I spied some pretty pretty Summer Tweed that would be perfect for the hat.

Wonder if I'll ever finish it.

Just, um, make it in a toddler size. Then you'll have it finished in time.

I'm really impressed at the amount you're able to get done with a one month old.

Love the picture of you and her! Finishing -- all it needs is the i-cord drawstring, right? Love that hat....

Awww, I think I'll be able to forgive such a sweet and adorable little baby girl for impeding your knitting process ... she is just darling.

she is so cute! and she looks like a doll on your lap like that! just wanna snuggle her!
lots of xoxo to her! :o)

What a little cutie. I'm sure you'll finish it. When is the big question, but who cares with such a sweetie to cuddle?

Hmmm...I keep starting and not finishing things too. I don't have an adorable baby around to distract, so what's my excuse?

I constantly had to remind myself (and still do--my kids are 4 and 2) that they will never be so little again. It seems to help me enjoy the 'here and now' more instead of wishing away their toddler years. Not that you are doing that! But I felt that for me it was easy to. She looks very sweet and peaceful.

You guys look so very sweet together. What a great photo! Hope you get in some knitting time edgewise... ~gabriella :)

Hooray for sleeping babies! I love that Summer Tweed hat.

Gosh you look happy with that little one draped across you. Amazing how you can worry about getting them to sleep, and then once they nod off, they'll sleep anywhere!

Posted by: LaurieM at April 17, 2007 2:36 PM

oh so cute! I just can't get over how cute she was laying there all draped over you :)

Posted by: Dani at April 17, 2007 3:00 PM

Ohmygoodness she's just adorable! I miss that age where they'll sleep anywhere.

She looks so comfy! I feel like doing that right now at my desk; think anyone would notice?

Posted by: Julie at April 17, 2007 3:41 PM

I just love how babies can sleep anywhere and in any position! If I slept like that I wouldn't be able to walk for a week!

Awww, that picture is just precious. Knitting, shmitting...you have a snuggly warm sleepy baby :-)

Now I know what to do with my leftover summer tweed! Baby L has the right idea there. Blissful sleep!

Having just had a babe myself on 3/26, (and it was #3, too), let me say this: our babies are so small for such a short time. They only ask to be cuddled and loved, nursed and rocked for a mere instant of their lives.

The way I see it - knitting be damned, if it means holding and cuddling. The knitting will always be there. The wee one will get bigger, learn the word "no", become a teenager and refuse to be seen in public wearing any of my handknits. :)

That said, it's been nice to begin knitting again after I took a couple of weeks off for a babymoon. Not getting much done, but knitting, as EZ says, is so good for the spirit. Good luck.

Sleeping baby in lap. Love that.

Oh, you'll finish it. You just need a little more to go. Baby L looks so cute in your lap.

WOW...good balancing...since it's only a hat and you are 'wonder' knitter, I'm sure it will get done.

Congrats again on a beautiful baby. I love Black Sheep- a favorite store. BTW- how did my hometown look? Haven't been there in 2 years. Take care.
