frogging

Still no finishing here.

Well, I did kinda finish this children's cotton hat (see, I did the i-cord bow and everything!), but then I realized that it was going to be too small for the newborn I knit it for. My row gauge just wasn't what it was supposed to be! The hat barely fits baby L and this newborn was bigger than she was. And I'd like for her to be able to wear it for at least a month ('cause you know spring's never really going to come to Boston - not at least until summer does).

So I ripped it back to the beginning of the decreases and am reknitting the top. The cotton's got some stretch, so width isn't the problem. It's simply too short. A few more inches and then maybe, just maybe, I'll have finished something!

(Hubby gives me a break during this school vacation week by taking the boys off my hands for a day and still I don't get to post until 3pm! And if you've sent me an email in the last week, uh, yeah, I'm getting to them. Slowly. One email at a time.)

Good grief, Alison, you just had a BABY, for heaven's sake. There's no gang of knitting police who are going to confiscate your computer because you aren't returning your e-mails fast enough. Truly, everyone understands. Hell, I consider myself "postpartum" until the kid is almost old enough to go to college and discuss local politics! :) :) Give yourself a break, girlfriend. You did a heck of a job just by creating that gorgeous little girl.

The hat looks adorable though!

I think there's something a little fishy about the sizing on this hat. I had to knit it three times before I got it right -- version one is currently sitting on a Blythe doll (considerably smaller than a baby). Still though, it's a cute pattern and will be worth it when its done.

I really like that yarn you are using; I think it will be well worth the frogging. :)

Not a lot of things getting finished around here either. Ever since I started the dyeing yarn thing, I have been so distracted. Even when I'm not working, it's hard to settle down and knit. Doesn't help that I'm working on Berroco Wren (the most boring knit in the world). I want to wear Wren -- she's cute as anything. But boring. Must finish.

I hadn't knit a hat in so long that I did the exact same thing with an adult hat. Frustrating.

Hi,

Jus wondering wat size / length needle did u use to knit this cutie ? Tks.

I tried use 40cm/6mm needle to knit but the needle is too long to finish the top of the hat.

I am sure your frogging and resuming knit is going to go way faster than mine! :)

I had trouble with the sizing on this hat, too. I do love the pattern, though. :0)

LOL, though I think SIL would disagree. she's from CA originaly and has been in MA since, oh I dunno...1985 or so and she just loves in there...she said what she loves about MA is that it has 4 different seasons.

Hey, Orli, she's absolutely right, we do get four actual seasons. Just not at the right time! ;0)

LOL...I just heard from BIL he told it was 60 degrees today ...so you're getting there...heat wave over here.
