sparkle girl

The second part of wee one's new little wardrobe in the making is a bolero to keep her arms warm on chillier mornings and evenings in late summer and early fall. Now that I've got her summer clothes back, I want her getting as much use out of them as possible! So I bought some baby leggings and am working on this light cover up for the top.

Shannon gifted me with a teensy version of this pattern at my baby shower. It was so lovely and was perfect for wee one in her first few months. It was an extra layer just where she needed it. Now that she's outgrown that first shrug, it's time for a bigger version.

two fronts - can't you just see the pretty shrug shape?

This one will be in Rowan's Soft Lux, their slightly sparkly baby soft yarn (the non-sparkly version is called Soft Baby). I've always wanted to use this for a baby project. The gold ply is very subtle and even though I'm not a sparkle girl that doesn't mean that wee one can't be one!

Don't you just love boleros/shrugs fopr girl babies? I made the Debbie Bliss one in black Baby Ull for baby M, my oh so cute granddaughter for a wedding she went to in San Francisco last month with Mommy & Daddy (big brothers stayed home & got to spend special time with both grandparents & their partners)& it looked so cute & was very soft. Generally I hate the sparkly yarn (it usually just looks like cheap crap) but Rowan seems to know how to make it. They have a sparkly version of their Kidsilk which looks really nice also. Love that shade of pink too.

I've just ordered the pattern because I nearly imploded after seeing the tiny pink sparkly cuteness. Now to find a 0-6 year old to knit one for... :-)

Did you know that Soft Baby has been discontinued? It made me very sad to find that out. I wonder if they will discontinue the Soft Lux too?

Oh the color and sparkle will really make her beautiful coloring stand out. She is such a beautiful baby.

Sirdar makes the cutest baby patterns. I finished a shrug with a darling edging. You should check out their new Sublime yarn and patterns. Amazing!

Oh naughty me, I thought, "Why is Alison putting a photo of cleavage on her blog? Oh." That IS pretty yarn. Where do you get all your Rowan? Around here, it has to be special-ordered.

Precious sweater! I love making leggings, they are so cute in them! I'm glad her suitcase made it back from the otherworld of air travel! (I'm catching up, been a bad blogee!)
