sock savior saturday

I'll be working on updating the sockapalooza database all day today, checking off who needs a sock savior and who doesn't. We'll probably need around 60 sock saviors. So if you're looking to make socks for a forgotten pal, keep checking the database to volunteer.

Also if you DID receive your socks, please be sure that you updated the database to indicate that, otherwise if your pal also forgot to update saying that they finished, it'll look like you need a sock savior. If you're not sure that you updated, just check your info real quick so we can avoid calling in sock saviors where they're not needed.

How about some cheers for sock saviors in the comments!!!

Hip, hip hooray for sock saviors! :)

Posted by: ALISON at September 15, 2007 11:01 AM

I sent my socks a while ago already, but I just updated the DB today, sorry! Anyway, I haven't received anything so far so maybe I'm one of those who will need a sock-savior... thankyou for all your efforts Alison!

Cheers!

Hello, lovely Alison,

As you know, my pal said she sent my socks. That was three and a half weeks ago and I haven't received anything, alas. I fear they are lost in the mail. I may be in need of a sock savior.

Yay for sock saviors!

Posted by: Alexis at September 15, 2007 11:43 AM

Thank you so much to all the Sock Saviors! From someone who might need one. :(

Posted by: MommyknitsJen at September 15, 2007 11:43 AM

What a coincidence - I checked the database earlier today and picked out someone who needed a savior - given what's in my stash and what she wants, it was a perfect match! It's too bad there are people in the world who can't follow through on their commitments.

Posted by: Jen at September 15, 2007 12:28 PM

Yay for sock saviors!

I have not received my socks, nor has my pal finished them when last I heard from her. She says that she is working on them exclusively, but I don't know how to say that in the database.

Posted by: Sandy at September 15, 2007 12:45 PM

Hooray for saviors!! I had the nicest one ever, so I'm passing on the love and signing up to be one myself!

Posted by: Karen at September 15, 2007 1:02 PM

Sock saviours are the best.

It takes a special kind of person to fulfill their commitment and then fulfill someone else's.

I haven't been a part of Sockapalooza (too green) but I have felt really bad for all those people who didn't get their socks.

hey - a good rainy day for catching up on computer stuff. Tks for your encouragement last week on the pattern stuff - I've been busy since... Love the baby books! Lucky wee one. Next year, sockapalooza, I promise - maybe I finally know enough to make something for a fellow knitter now?

Posted by: thea at September 15, 2007 2:54 PM

I was given a Sock Saviour, but since my Pal had injured herself and is waiting for her arm to heal to finish my socks, I think another person without socks should be saved -- especially when my Sock Monkey has been spoiling me so well with lots of goodies to make up for the late socks!

Looks like I may be needing a sock savior too. My pal got in touch in late July to say she would be delayed by a few weeks, but I haven't heard from her since. Thanks to all the volunteers!

Posted by: brenda at September 15, 2007 5:30 PM

Can we sign up in the database for more than one? I have info now for one, but could easily handle another one or two.

Posted by: SandyK at September 15, 2007 6:42 PM

I have volunteered. I am way ahead on my Christmas sock knitting so one more pair shouldn't be a problem!

Posted by: Chelsea at September 15, 2007 7:11 PM

I tried to volunteer to save Felicia and got an error message: "There was an error updating the database" Alison, I sent you an e-mail about it...

Posted by: Sockapalooza4pal at September 15, 2007 8:33 PM

Can we have more applause and cheers for super duper sock saviors like Tanja, "Sockapalooza4pal", and SandyK, who have completely confounded the database system because they want to save TWO people! You sock saviors are so generous the system doesn't know what to do with you!! ;0)

Thanks to everyone who's jumped in today to save someone. There are still a few more sockers needing saviors, so I hope there are still a few more folks out there ready to knit socks.

You all are awesome!!

Posted by: ALISON at September 15, 2007 8:48 PM

Yeah for sock saviors! I'm happy I won't get stiffed on the swap! Its always fun to knit for others, but I am looking forward to my special socks as well

Posted by: sue at September 15, 2007 9:21 PM

I don't have my socks yet, but my pal told me that they should be here any day now, so no savior for me, and I promise to update as soon as I get them :)

Posted by: Danielle at September 15, 2007 9:25 PM

Hooray for sock saviors! I haven't gotten any socks or heard from my pal (ever) so I think my poor toesies are in need of a savior.

Posted by: Sarah at September 15, 2007 10:50 PM

I've heard from my pal, too. She's a brand new mom, so has more worries than my feet! She should be mailing soon.

So I don't THINK I'll need a savior. I'll update asap when they get here.

Posted by: Karla (Threadbndr) at September 16, 2007 12:58 AM

Sock saviours are precious elves with really, really big hearts like the one the grinch had when he came around.

Oh boy, elves and grinch, now where is my mind taking me?

Thank you, Tanja and Sandy K. for being so generous and giving. You guys rock.

Posted by: Anita at September 16, 2007 2:21 AM

Here's a big ol' Yee-haw!!! for Sock Saviors!!! I wish I were able to be one, but life and needles are full right now.

Posted by: Sarah at September 16, 2007 2:37 AM

I've just signed up to be a saviour, but don't know if I need one myself - Alison, you told me that my pal had finished the socks a month ago, but they're still not here... In the meantime I'll enjoy making a sockless person happy. I think it's sad that there are knitters out there who get socks and don't share the love by making any though!

Posted by: Lucy at September 16, 2007 3:21 AM

Yippee for sock saviors! I can't save right now, but I can donate some sock yarn to a wonderful sock savior.

Posted by: Mary Beth at September 16, 2007 7:16 AM

I love "angels." It's wonderful that there are knitter's out there who volunteer to make sure someone gets a pair of socks. I am in need of a savoior. I wish I could be a savior as well, but I'm swamped with school work and regular work, plus other sock swap committments - so I wouldn't be able to get them done until late this year at the latest! :)

Posted by: Becky at September 16, 2007 8:08 AM

Yeah! My sock savior just sent me an email that my socks are in the works!

Sock Saviors are awesome for taking this on!

Posted by: cynthia at September 16, 2007 9:51 AM

What's amazing? I was a lucky girl, I got socks, I sent socks, it all worked out. I figured hey, I can make some socks... and it looks like everyone in need at the moment has been rescued! I'll keep an eye out, but how fantastic that everyone is so on the ball. It's great that you do this "second round", Allison. It really helps everyone feel warm and fuzzy (ha) by the end :)

Posted by: Sarah at September 16, 2007 10:49 AM

I just got an email from my sock savior, and I say "Hip, hip, HOORAY for sock saviors!" Next year I will be one myself to pay it forward.

Posted by: Meem at September 16, 2007 12:02 PM

Yeah to Sock Angels! I have heard from my sock savior (twice!) and she seems to be a real sweetie. I think I've just had "chattier" emails with her than I've had with "real" friends in quite awhile.

Sock Saviors Rock!

Posted by: Felicia at September 16, 2007 3:51 PM

I look forward to hearing from my sock savior! Yeah for sock saviors! I'm not so bummed now...I am really looking forward to my socks! Fall is in the air....just in time for hand made socks! So yummy and warm...

Posted by: Hali at September 16, 2007 5:53 PM

Hooray for sock saviors! I tried to volunteer but there was no one left to be saved. I will check back again.
I had a great sockpal myself - from my own city! She kept in touch and sent me wonderful socks and other goodies.
Thanks again, Alison, for organizing the Sockapalooza.

Posted by: Elisabeth at September 16, 2007 9:42 PM

I just checked the database to volunteer, but it looks like you got everyone matched up with a savior already. If you need anyone else, keep me in mind.

Posted by: Gabby Kang at September 16, 2007 9:47 PM

I have always been lucky in the Sockaplaooza exchanges (and others) so I think it's time to spread more hapiness. I just volunteered (and strange.. there were still people on the list)
Thanks Alison, for this giant exchange and though it is sad that some people cannot follow through, it's still lot of fun for the majority!

Posted by: carola at September 17, 2007 5:02 AM

I think I might be in need of a Savior: my pal said she'd mail my socks at the beginning of August. Since then, no socks and no word from her either!

(my downstream pal did apparently get her socks, but I guess she didn't like them, or the rest of the package, as I never heard back from her either!)

~x~

Posted by: PinkHebe at September 17, 2007 8:27 AM

I took a new pal too! I was such a bad pal this round... didn't get my socks out to my pal until just this past weekend. *hangs head in shame* So I figured I needed to get my sock pal karma realigned and took on a new pal! I already have some yarn I think she'll love so I'm just scoping out patterns now. :)

FOR SUE (from, comment above) - I can't find you in the database and your email address didn't work. I'd like to look up your info and be sure that you're getting a sock savior if you need one. Can you send me an email with the name and email address you used to sign up?

Posted by: ALISON at September 17, 2007 12:11 PM

I need a sock savior, too.

Posted by: NATÁLIA at September 17, 2007 12:21 PM

Hi Alison,

Just a quick note to let you know my socks have been knit, mailed and received by my sock pal Lisa P. I updated the database when I mailed them in August. When I checked the database a bit ago it said the socks where sent, received but not knit. I just tried to update again but there wasn't the "submit" button. My name is still "blue" on the list of participants. Let me know if you want me to try anything else to update my info.

Thanks!
Kari Oswald

Yay for sock saviors!
I loved participating in this sock exchange. Seeing my sock pal blog about the socks I made her was reward enough, but getting my own socks will be a super duper double reward. Thanks so much to everyone who is volunteering to be a sock savior. Your efforts are definitely appreciated!
Thanks again
Aimee

ps - my feet are already excited

Posted by: Aimee at September 17, 2007 3:34 PM

I signed up to be a sock savior (well, Saturday), and am pleased to report that pretty nifty savior socks are on the needles!

Posted by: Seanna Lea at September 17, 2007 5:59 PM

Hi, Alison-

I'm not in Sockapalooza, but I thought that I'd offer some sock-savior-ous-ness. ;) I'd love to help out if there is a need for sock saviors, still. Please let me know (email me: hgsacb AT yahoo DOT com), I'd love to help out if I can. :)

Have a great day - and good luck in your database updates! :)

Cheers!

Posted by: Chelsea at September 17, 2007 8:07 PM

Hurrah for Sock Saviors!

Posted by: PinkHebe at September 18, 2007 7:09 AM

I sent my socks quite a while ago, but I have never heard back from my pal. She hasn't even updated her blog in months. Just wanted to say, it will look like she needs a savior, but I was a good pal! I sent the socks!

Posted by: Maggie at September 20, 2007 7:48 AM

Yeah for Sock Saviors!!!

I think I need one. I have not received any socks. I have not received an email saying "Hey, I sent you socks, did you get them?". :(

Thank you Sock Saviors. :) You are wonderful!
