halloween is on

The baby Viking hat is underway! We all know, I love bobbles, so so far I'm loving this pattern.

And after a good trip out to JoAnn's Fabric, I'm ready to sew up costumes for the boys. I'm sort of winging the patterns - simple poncho styles, wearable, comfortable. It'll all be about the details that the boys want.

We've got a slighly sparkly white fabric for B's ghost. Boo! And guess who S is going to be?

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Spongebob, of course!

Looks promising! Love the sparkly stuff for the ghost. My oldest has just informed me that she wants to be Hermione for Halloween. If it weren't one short month away, your book would be the perfect resource. As it is, I don't trust my knitting quickness enough to make her this costume myself. So I guess it's store-bought this year. *sigh*

Can't wait to see the finished products. Also, the baby Viking hat looks *adorable*.

Disco Ghost!
I love it!
And the Wee One is going to look *unbearably* cute in the Baby Viking hat. As in, I can't stand it cute!
Wish my daughters were that little. I think I need to find someone with a suitable toddler and make that hat!
Spongebob is ambitious for someone who professes not to sew much -- I'm impressed! I can sew up a seam, but that's about it.
Looking forward to seeing the finished and modeled pictures in a month!

You have me realizing that Halloween is sneaking up on me!! I need to go to Joann's and get fabric for my kids costumes. Pirates! Arr!

Nicole, I bet you could whip up a hip scarf from the book for your daughter to wear as a school tie. Or a gryffindor beret or student wizard cap. You can buy the rest, but then you've still made something for her. I just love it when there's something homemade in the costume!

Cathy-Cate, I've got some ideas for the Spongebob costume that won't require me to do too much more than sew some seams. Fingers crossed that it'll work!

Oooooh, pirates, great theme to work with Rachel!

i actually had a friend who did the whole thing with egg crate mattressing, and cut out holes and used paper plates for the eyes. she had a peephole to look through, and took off the whole gear to sit down (she wore it to work, it was a RIOT!)

Times have changed! I would have guessed Charlie Brown.

Hmmmm, you're right Anne, there is a striking similarity between Spongebob and Charlie Brown. I never thought of that before. I've always wanted to knit the boys Charlie Brown sweaters, but since they have no idea who he is, they never got too excited by the idea. So, yes, this yellow/white/brown combo will have to be a Spongebob!

So cute. I'd want to make matching viking hat's for myself to wear with the kids. As it is I'm doing the Harry Potter route thanks to your book! Squee! BTW, sent you a message earlier in the week about sock saviours and how or who qualifies for one and hadn't heard back yet.

See, this is another reason why I don't have kids. I could never do the Halloween costume thing in a respectable way. Can't wait to see the final line up.

That hat is going to be absolutely unbearably adorable!!

Though Gil does not watch Sponge Bob...he does know of him...I guess from the kids at day care and he calls him Bobbie SkoGi...why I do not know...I think he is just being silly.
I think it's time for B to watch ET (the ghost costume just reminds me of the movie)
