from uruguay to japan

The focus of my blanket-making activities has shifted in the last few days from the manos afghan to the asian Bend-the-Rules quilt.

I have to admit that I love this whole pressing part. Crazy talk, I know, but it's true. It's just so fun to press everything and see how beautiful it's all come out. And this one is coming out quite beautifully, if I do say so myself.

The quilt top is all done. I think Amy Karol's easy lap throw pattern with its long strips does a good job of letting these fabrics show off their simple elegance. I picked out an extra-special fabric for the backing so the back will be equally lovely. The whole thing is all basted together now and awaiting quilting.

But my time in the East is up for now. I must return to the other side of the globe to get cracking on that manos afghan. The deadline for finishing both is just over one week away!! Can I make it around the world in 8 days?!

That quilt is looking gorgeous. And I LOVE the backing fabric. Where, oh where, did you get it??

Oh, WOW! I love that backing fabric, too. So colorful and cheery! :0)

I'm learning a lot about quilting from your blog-- looking at all the photos is very inspiring. I've just started my first quilt today, one I designed myself. Thanks for all the tips and inspiration, and good luck with your two projects! I'm sure you'll finish them in time.

I'm another one that doesn't like ironing.

I can't believe that quilting changes that!

Looking at these quilts and the afghan makes me want to run over to your house and cuddle up with a blanket and a kid. Unfortunately, I'm not close so that'll never happen um plus I haven't been invited :)

I love that - it's gorgeous! Good luck getting around the world!!

Oh, gorgeous! I knew I liked those fabrics when you had them up a couple of days ago....but together they are even prettier.

Beautiful quilt! I hate cutting, I hate sewing, I hate ripping, I hate re-sewing but I LOVE pressing and of course the finished product or I wouldn't do it.

Thanks for showing the BTR quilt. I just re-read the directions in my book (purchased b/c of your recommendation!) and can't wait to start mine. I think I'm going to make one for each of my kids. After Christmas, of course.

I'm sure you will manage to get both done. You are one of the fastest people I've ever seen in crafty land.

I *love* that red flower pattern!

Oh my! That is my favorite quilt so far...love them all, but this one is wonderful! Love the soft colors.
