boy time

Yes, somehow I've found myself casting on for yet another itty bitty hat. But after all the girly, flowery, pink-y hats I've made from the book, this time it's a boy hat, the football hat.

before wee one

after wee one

Is it just me or has everyone been having girls? Finally an acquaintance that's having a boy! I had to actually go out and get some appropriate blue yarn, since my scraps and my stash have all turned pink. I'm using this new Crystal Palace angora blend yarn called Bunny Hop. It's very nice actually with a lovely hand and sweet colors. There isn't however a good taupe-y brown color for the football. I spied some hideous olive-y brown Calmer at my lys the other day that would have done, but then I kept thinking what the blazes am I going to do with the other 170 yards of this yucky colored yarn?! Lucky for me, I have some connections. Dani has knit just about every itty bitty hat in the book (scroll through her 2007 gallery to see them all!) and has some football brown leftover for me to borrow. Hooray!

I like it, very very cute. I just started reading your blog (still reading archives, lol); in case I missed it, please tell me about those circulars - the diameter looks so small, I NEED THEM! You have a wee one that "helps", I have two kitty brothers to help me. One would have been lying on the book while the other one takes off with the hat; maybe I should rethink turning my new project/new yarn swatches into kitty toys. You make me smile........ keep up your great blogging!

yay! I love that hat -- I knit one for my niece in Redskins colors (since her parents are both huge Redskins fans).

Cynthia, the needles are just 16" Inox/Prym needles. Nothing special. The 0-6 month size I'm working on looks like it's going to be just 16" around or maybe a smidge under, so perhaps that's why things look so small. Any smaller and I wouldn't be able to use those needles.

Jess, LOVE that hat you made. Good Gryffindor colors too, you know! ;0)

Oh, I come from China's knitting enthusiasts, like those baby clothes!

Everyone I know has boys, or is having boys. There hasn't been a girl in my circle in...there's never been a girl in my circle. I'm pretty tired of blue, green, and red.

I must agree with Suzanne... everyone I know is having boys!!!! The pink yarn in my stash sits and gathers dust.

I have the opposite problem: everyone around me seems to be having boys. Well, with the exception of one girl recently. But I didn't know she was going to be a girl and ended up doing a unisex hat for her.

Maybe it's different cities or parts of the country, 'cause I agree with the three commentors above me - all boys! The only girl in my circle was adopted (yay), but is one so I totally missed all the itty-bitty cutie girl things to knit!

Your little girls actions crack me up!

I also made this hat for my nephew (http://castingaway.wordpress.com/2007/12/14/what-i-lack-in-quantity/) and it has been reported to me that he thinks he is not allowed to go outside without it on...and he LOVES to go outside. It makes me so happy to know it is being used.

Everyone you know is having little girls and everyone I know is having little boys (with the exception of one couple who isn't telling).

The hat is definitely a keeper. Very cute.

We should exchange knitted goods. I am surrounded with pending baby boys and I'm dying to make the BSJ in candy colors for a little girl.

Where are these girl babies you speak of? All my little one's "friends" are boys and we joke that she like swimming class so much because she gets to show off her ruffled swim diaper in front of all her boyfriends! :) That little hat is seriously cute.

Oh Alison, you are so cute with those hats. I just love watching you knit baby hats. I have to check out the bunny hop yarn, I'm not familiar with that one. Your blog is such a treat.
Thank you for the ongoing support.
