making the most of naptime
Knitting as much as I can each night - as much as I can without getting my sometimes achy wrist to start acting up again - I'd made good progress on my babycables vintage style cardigan (Thea's soon-to-come little golden vintage cardigan). I was determined to finish the back last night, but couldn't quite get it done. So, this morning, I put aside the laundry (folding laundry would have surely hurt my hand - wink, wink), and instead knit the shoulders to complete the back.

And that's it. That's my two skeins of Lavold Silky Wool that I had in this colorway. I am recklessly knitting from stash these days, regardless of required yarn amounts. Start it and the yarn will follow, I say. And it did. I found more Calmer for the bonbon baby cardigan. I found more Rowan denim for the little white smock cardigan. And after mentioning to the knitsmiths that I needed more Silky Wool in color #24, I found that Johanna had two skeins just down the street.

It's not exactly the same dyelot, but I'm continuing to think positive. Except that I'm pretty sure that the laundry did not put itself away during naptime.

Oh, I remember those days - my first child slept well at night - a sold 11 or 12 hours after the first few weeks but once she was awake - she was awake - no naps & she wanted to be entertained. I felt positively blessed with the 2nd - 12 hours of sleep at night, 1-1½ hour nap in the am & a 2-2½ hour nap in the afternoon. By then #1 was in preschool - from the time the bus picked her up until it dropped her off was about 2½ hours which coincided perfectly with #2's nap - all knitting time!! I felt like I had died & gone to heaven!
forgot to say - that Silky Wool looks gorgeous - is it as soft as it looks?
Knitting takes priority over any humdrum household chore, as it should. Someone else might fold the laundry if you leave it sitting around long enough, but only you can make those pretty things.
I'm also using Silky Wool for a baby dress right now and just adore how it's knitting up. Nice yarn. Your sweater will be beautiful!
(And my son is napping right now but I'm too exhausted at the moment to do anything! Definitely knitting over dishes though, when I decide to get off the couch again.) :)
The laundry always puts itself away around here! At least, that's what my husband and kids think.
I thought not swatching was gutsy, but knitting from stash without knowing if you have enough is really brave! Bravo!!
YAY for knitting from stash and positive thinking. I'm right with you there.
LOL about Laundry...ah the weekend is coming and the machine is beckoning, use me.
LOL! I'm not the only one who knits like mad after the kids are in bed! Yeah, my laundry never puts itself away either. Funny, no one ELSE puts it away, no matter how long it sits, folded, on the living room chair... My laundry has once again piled up enough that it's time to do it again...
