hungry for more

A little later than I'd planned, but I've finished the quilting on the neutral quilt. It's all ready for the final step: binding! I can't decide whether to bind it in a beige, brown or maybe one of the blues. More decisions!

Rather than choose last night, I jumped ahead and pinned the purple-lovers quilt top and its batting and backing together. B came over while I was working on things and thought how clever it was that it's called a quilt sandwich: "it's got a top, something in the middle and a bottom." Yum!

Love the quilts. The top one is that a pattern or did you just make that up yourself.
Love your blog. I read every day.

That is just lovely. I wanted to thank you for inspiring me to learn to quilt. I've been piecing things together and it's so much fun! I still need to go get a walking foot for my machine, but then I'll really be in business!

Maybe try a pieced binding in all of the fabrics you used!

De-lurking cuz I can't resist commenting on your gorgeous quilts! I don't think I'd be able to gift them...I'd have to keep em for myself!! I love the backing you chose for the "purples" quilt, just beautiful. Do you machine or hand quilt them, just out of curiosity? And if you machine quilt them, do you have a special machine or do you use your regular sewing machine? Keep up the good work!! :)

Good idea, Jennifer. I'll try piecing together some of my leftover strips and see how it looks!

Kassia, I do machine quilting (I've never done any hand quilting or piecing) on my regular old sewing machine. It's my first time with a larger-sized quilt - the previous ones were more lap-sized and these are almost twin size - but I rolled up the section that goes under the arm and it went fine. Thanks for all you nice comments! :)

You make lovely quilts. I think you must have magic in those hands of yours because everything you craft turns out so beautifully.

If you have leftovers of the fabrics in the quilt consider making a scrap binding. It is a very charming and striking finish!

I love the neutral quilt. It is really pleasing to the eye!

navy binding. And I'll be sending you my address later. ;-)

Both quilts are really gorgeous. I especially love the purple one - I like almost anything purple. I think the idea of piecing together all the fabrics is good but it does sound like an awful lot of work. Failing that I think the tan fabric (the one you have the quilt lying on - to the right of the quilt) would make a nice binding.

Ha, ha, Laurie! Glad to hear that you like it. :)

Donna, that's the back of the quilt. I think it'd make a nice binding too. Decisions, decisions! ;0)

I like the idea of piecing the fabrics. But for some reason I think brown would look good or at least a dark binding - contrast that looks good with your sashing (did I use the right term?).

Wow your quilt came out beautifully.

I vote for blue on the binding.
Both of the quilts look great. Don't you love how they start to feel 'real' after the three layers get sandwiched together? Nice work!

I really really love the backing fabric on the purples quilt. So pretty!
