warm up

We've had all of two nice days here in Boston, so naturally, I've jumped ahead in my mind to spring and summer knitting! I've been looking forward to making some things for wee one from Barefoot Knits for a while now and just got my hands on some Brown Sheep cotton fleece at our most recent yarn swap. (All the Barefoot Knits patterns are written for cotton fleece.)

I was about to charge ahead and cast on for the tank top on the cover when I happened to find this adorable pattern from Knitting at Knoon at my lys.

loooove the sweater, but I think my wee one would wear the skirt more

Before I knew it, I'd cast on with the cotton fleece for the skirt! It's knitting up lightning fast and is adorable. But it's just a warm-up for the Barefoot Knits knits. Anyone else got a few of those on their to-do list? We could barefoot-knit together.

There's a destash of some Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece on Ravelry right now. Btw, I love the orange skirt on the front cover!

I don't have any little girls to knit for, but I love those ruffly-bottom pants!

What ages are these patterns for? My youngest is 11 and I'm concerned they don't run big enough for her. I checked the site, but couldn't find any info about sizes.

Thanks for the tip about the Barefoot Knits. I have 2 large Rubbermaid bins of Cotton Fleece & 3 grands - so it's a must buy for me. I too love the skirt on the cover. Also noticed a bunch of children's patterns I like on the Knitting at Knoon site. When I get back to my home in the Chicago area (I am currently sitting in our hotel room in Emeryville - we took the train from Chicago to the Bay area to visit DD the grands- to anyone contemplating this train trip - do it - the scenery between Denver Sacramento is unbelievably beautiful - soon as SO gets out of th shower - I get in & he goes down to get the car & it's off to Palo Alto)

I love the pants on the cover, but alas, no girls in this house. Are there boy patterns in the book?

Posted by: Jane at March 20, 2009 7:22 PM

Malka, the patterns only go up to size 10. :(

Jane, there are two sweater patterns that are unisex - boys are wearing them in the pattern pictures - and one vest. Not enough probably to buy the book just for those patterns. But if you have friends who have girls too, who you might knit for....

I purchased this book when it first came out, and I made the poncho with the ribbons in it. Very cute. You can see it on my Ravelry page: Poethead.

I can't wait to see your little skirt knit-up. It's very cute. Was the pattern a PDF download? Thanks!

The Knitting at Knoon skirt is super cute. It's the type of skirt I would happily upsize for an adult lickety-split.
