when life gives you rain, make rainbows

This unending rain is getting depressing, so today I'll try to brighten things up by presenting to you twelve super-long strips ready to become two more panels of my forty fat quarter quilt.

Here's hoping for more colorful days to come...

Those are really pretty!

That is gorgeous! It almost makes we want to set down the knitting needles and turn on the sewing machine. Except I know I would end up having a breakdown trying to make all those little squares and all those little seams match up as perfectly as you do it!

Gorgeous quilt! Be careful what you wish for. East Coast cities usually get our weather (or very similar) 2 or 3 days after we do. We had been having heavy rain almost every day (a good bit of flooding with maybe more to come.) We drive over a major local river going to & from our health club & Friday it was just below the bridge on the way there so, when it rained torrents while we were there, we worried about getting home - thought we might have to drive to the Eisenhower Expressway (which has a much higher bridege oer the river than any of the streets but is also about 5 miles out of the way.) Then Saturday the temperature shot up to almost 90 (officially - low 90's further out) And I'm sure you can imagine the humidity levels after all that rain. Now the weather service is predicting high 80's - low 90's with HIGH humidity levels for at least the next week. Yuck - almost typical Chicago weather (normally it occurs earlier - I think this is the latest we've every waited to put in our window AC units.) So that's what you're likely to get in a few days.

Your quilt takes more patience than I have. It's going to be lovely when it's finished.

That is BEAUTIFUL! It must take a scientific mind to choose and arrange all those squares so precisely.

Awesome. I love those bright colors together.

Don't you just love strip piecing. The quilt squares look fabulous. Can't wait to see the whole thing pieced together. ~ksp

It worked! You brightened my day. I also live in the rain belt...about 50 miles south of Boston, and am really tired of spending so much time with my unbrella. This quilt is gorgeous and I LOVE those Anna Maria Horner fabrics. I think I need one of these quilts!

Pretty! I love how the strips look.

I'm mostly with you on the rain. It doesn't bother me too much, because it means I don't have to water the garden. But I wish there was less rain on Saturday and Sunday, so I could go swimming!

Oh, it is lovely! I see you mention all the rain. Does that mean that your family has not been able to enjoy the new grill?

I do the grilling in our family. I love it for summer. It doesn't have to be fancy. Even burgers seem special when grilled.

Darn you - you make me want to start quilting, despite the fact that I have no sewing machine, I have no space for a sewing machine or the piles of fabric I would have to have, or the time to quilt... but this, and the quilts for your children, are so beautiful!

Posted by: Kerri at June 29, 2009 11:20 AM

Ugh, guess I should have said "This IS so beautiful, and so ARE the quilts for your children..."
