on top of my quilt top
I never really thought the kids would get excited about quilts, but they were positively giddy when I pulled out each of their finished quilt tops last night.
I took out B's "yellow brick road" top first since I just finished piecing it together. He literally giggled with anticipation as I was unfolding it and laying it out on his bed to check the size. He jumped right on and declared it to be "awesome"!

He insisted that his brother come upstairs to admire it. Then, he and S announced that they wanted to see S's rocket quilt top (pieced long ago, but still not yet quilted) too. B immediately announced that it was "cooool!" and S proudly stretched himself out on top of it for a picture.

And in the other room, wee one was rolling around on her funky sock monkey quilt top (also awaiting quilting). As soon as she saw it, she dashed off to find her sock monkey toy so he could monkey around with her on her monkey quilt.

Now there just remains the little matter of quilting these babies before they can finally be given to my babies. In the meantime, each of the kids is keeping a copy of the picture to enjoy until they can have the real thing.

Love.love.love all three quilts. You have a real eye for color and placement. Can't wait to see them quilted (and I'll bet you and the babies can't wait either!!)
The quilts are gorgeous but I had a hard time looking beyond your even gorgeous-er children...they are growing SO fast.... LOOK at their legs!
They look wonderful! What fun mementos they will be for the kids when they are older. Sigh. I never enjoy the quilting part as much as the piecing, especially in the heat of summer.
It is just so cool that they love the quilts. It is always much more fun to give a gift when the recipient is enthusiastic!
They are all fabulous!!! I really like the rocket quilt (mostly because of the larger pattern - larger = easier, in my mind anyway). Which one was easiest to do? I made a toddler-size quilt for my baby and just finished it. I enjoyed the piecing part, but the quilting part was a little tricky. I had pins in it everywhere, but the fabric kept puckering every time I tried to sew. I ended up just quilting around the border and hand-sewing the yarn knots in the body of the quilt. Anyhow, yours are stunning. Love the pics. ;-)
Your posts are like receiving a bouquet of flowers. Each quilt is as exceptional as the much loved child. I still have a quilt my grandmother made for me when I was 4 (a long time ago). These will be cherished.
The quilts are wonderful. I LOVE quilts too. They are a bundle of warm, comfy, colorful love to wrap up in.
I hope you get them quilted soon. Be sure to share more pics with us.
What pretty quilt tops! Hey, Alison, I'm a long-arm machine quilter and if you would like to send me your tops, batting and backing, I would quilt them for you for free in an all-over meandering pattern. I'm not kidding. I think you would like the results very much.

The quilts look fabulous. I like that the children can relate to the fabric choices. ~ksp
I'm not surprised at all - I have found children to be the most enthusiastic recipients of my hand knits & even more so if they have some input. They seem to instinctively understand the love that goes into them. Just look at those happy faces! They'll be keeping those quilts their whole lives!
Well, that certainly puts the pressure on to get them quilted! They're all just gorgeous...and the quilts are, too. ;)
It is so nice that your kids are enthusiastic appreciators of your skills.
