a little something else I got at purl

This is what wee one calls my Polly Pocket shirt. You see, she got a Polly Pocket doll in a Happy Meal last summer when we went to Germany and Polly was wearing a light green shirt. This year for her birthday, wee happened to get a shirt in the same color and was so excited that she and Polly had the same shirt.

Then I happened to get this 3 dot shirt in the same shade. Wee one was always very happy when I would wear my Polly Pocket shirt and would point to it and say "mama's polly pocket shirt". But after I'd only worn it a couple of times, it got a tiny hole in it, front and center. Nooooooo! I had to find a way to save the Polly Pocket shirt!

So I decided to find (or make) an applique to cover the tiny hole. I'd put off the repair for a bit, hoping to be inspired by some fabric or applique. Then this weekend, I simply couldn't resist the cutie patootie little Japanese appliques they had at Purl Patchwork. I had planned on only using the flower, but then I realized that the hole was just slightly off center, so I added the bunny next to him to keep the whole thing centered. It's a little more baby-ish and even more Polly Pocket-ish, I fear. But I like it and it looks way better than the hole!

I so thought it came that way...was wondering when 3 dot started with appliques. Love the Polly Pockets.

I love it but then we are fairly rabid about rabbits in this house. We put commercial rabbit food out for them in the winter. A few weeks ago, SO unwittingly ran over a baby bunny with the lawn mower (fortunately it was still in its' nest in a depression in the ground so it wasn't at all hurt but yesterday, the first time since the incident, as soon as it heard the lawn mower, the little one (almost half grown now) jumped up & ran under the back porch. Glad to see it learned so well.

I remember Polly Pockets as being a lot smaller (like really tiny) but maybe that's just the UK version.

Great idea to mend your shirt.

It looks hand sewn! My son had a Batman "polly pocket" Batmobile. And a Millenium Falcon. My daughter didn't really care for Polly. She loved her pink basketball.

I love Purl.
I got a shirt from Victoria Secret, really nice with pletes...but my silly cut stuck his paw through it.

The problem is the little holes are down at the bottom and I think I would need Iron on...because, any needle going through the skimpy fabric would make more holes. Right now I'm still wearing it and hope no one notices the holes. It's kind of flouncy which helps.
