m is for mom

Just before we left for Germany, I packed up mom's Alchemy scarf and sent it off to her for her birthday. Happy birthday, mom! It was a treat for me to make this: what more could a knitter wish for than that someone says, hey, would you maybe make me this gorgeous scarf in this fabulous yarn? Yes, yes, yes!

Yes! I love being asked to make something from fabulous yarn. My DIL admired a beautiful scarf from some beautiful yarn on display at my favorite LYS. She lives in another state and was here on a visit. Her birthday is in October and you can bet I went to the shop after she left to pick up the yarn and pattern for her birthday gift this year. I am excited about being able to make it too.

I love this scarf so, so much and have been thinking about ordering the yarn for it. So far, I've held off, but now that I've seen another photo of it...my resistance is weakening!

I got inspired by the previous posts about this scarf and I spent the last bits of my gift certificate at the LYS on two balls of some yummy handpainted in two colorways. I started with brioche but decided to rip it and start again in mistake rib. I just finished it and it is gah-gah-gorgeous! But I just don't wear scarves. I hate them on my neck. So it'll go to one of my many sisters. Or the women's shelter. They are my sisters too.
