i can feel it coming

It's the first day of October and already I can feel the snow coming.

So I'm making a snowman hat (pattern from Itty-Bitty Hats) to help reconcile myself to the inevitable. I've wanted to make this hat for so long. And considering that I have already made eleven hats from this book, I'm surprised I haven't made this one yet! The yarn is Berroco Pure Merino - nice and soft with crisp colors - and as usual, the pattern is amazingly clever. I can't wait to make the cute red scarf to go around the brim!

I've also got plans for scarves and gloves for myself and, of course, more new hats for wee one. After some recent sweater disappointments and a general big project knitting malaise, I'm hoping this can be a new start for me. It's knitting season and it's on!

Adorable. Almost (almost...) makes me wish I lived in a place where it snowed. :)

I made a similar hat for my daughter when she was young by attaching a nose and eyes to an ivory beret. I think my niece wants it now.

Oh, thank Heaven! I thought I was the only one who made hats with the hem like that! They're mostly skater-dude-style beanies. Most of my fun has been in the color choices and stripe placement, but I might just have to try some characters like this one.

too, too cute - there are so many cute hat patterns out there for little ones it's hard to choose. I'm thinking the Josephine (Popknits) for M & maybe the fish hats from Knitty for the boys (I'll have to ask them first of course - M already OK'd the Josephine hat - just meed to pick yarn)

You just gave me a brilliant idea! My two year old needs a hat and I think that is going to be the one!! :) It's adorable!
