tweet, tweet, tweet

The Christmas birdies (from Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts) were such a neat little project. Okay, okay, they were fiddly and mine are little lopsided in spots, but as soon as they are done, they are just so stinking adorable, you forgive them for being such a little p-i-t-a. I hope my mother-in-law likes them!

For my father-in-law, I made three potholders (with the more of the Farmer's Market fabric that I used last year for my mother's placemats).

Whenever we visit my in-laws and my very-helpful-in-the-kitchen father-in-law goes to take something hot out of the oven, he is forced to use the only potholders that hang next to the stove: tiny, circular, crocheted potholders. Ouch! He'll burn himself a little and ask who ever thought of making potholders with holes in them. He asks this very good-naturedly, of course, because he's just that way (lucky for me, hubby inherited his calm forbearance). But, still, I thought he deserved some potholders without holes!

Three more things to sew for Christmas!

I'll never make it.

Aw bless 'im. Ah, calm forbearance, what a fabulous trait. And he does deserve potholders without holes. Definitely. Tell 'im I said so. And well done you.

(Have a great Christmas!)

I'm so glad to hear those birds were fiddly for you! I thought it was just me. I gave up sewing them on the machine and did them by hand, and I still only liked two out of the three I've made. Those two are really cute, but I haven't braved making any more.

The birds are adorable & the pot holders wonderful - love that fabric. Many years ago I used to have commercial place mats that were very intensely solored almost surreal looking fruits & vegetables. I really loved them.

Sure you will! I love the fabric, and I have those birdies on my list of 'someday' as well. Hope you have a great holiday!

I'm cheering you on! You can finish! (unless you are finishing a quilt as one of your three things left)

The potholders look good enough to eat! I just love those fabrics and have wanted to get a few yards each of the blueberry and chili peppers. Now I need the red onion too! Merry Christmas to your whole family.

My mother inlaw made us circular, crocheted potholders (double yarn) and whilst they are pretty and thick...because they have a tad of lace edging more then once I burnt my finger when it found it's way through the lace to the hot pan.
Argg. Your FIL is sure to love this. very thoughtful.
