a lovely spring walk

Pack wee one into stroller with her sippy cup, bubble juice and favorite pink things. Grab B's swimming bag and sling S's guitar over shoulder. Walk to school.

Pick up boys. Walk with everything and everyone to music school.

Drop off S with guitar. Put S's backpack over one shoulder and walk with B and wee to swimming pool.

Drop off B with swimming bag. Put B's backpack over empty shoulder and immediately walk with wee back to music school.

Pick up S. Give S his backpack, sling S's guitar on back and walk with S and wee home.

Get wee, wee accessories, S, two backpacks and stroller in house. Enjoy 7 minute sit-down and debrief with hubby about the day. Drive to swimming pool. (I know, I'm supposed to be taking a walk but it was a trade off: seven minutes of resting or just turn around and walk back.)

Pick up B. Bring B and swimming bag back home. Are we done?

Somehow, I remember Spring walks being more relaxing.

Yeah I remember the scrambling - and I only had two of them but one was into sport and the other into dancing and they always seemed to need to be at opposite ends of the island at the same time! Good times

At least it wasn't raining.... And some people wonder how moms keep themselves busy. I well remember when my kids had events at the exact same time, so one of them would have to be too early or a little late, and the coach would be giving me the evil eye, and I would be inwardly cringing and thinking to myself, "But I can't be in two places at the same time!"

So much lovely exercise, though. It is always easier to exercise when you have a purpose. Be proud!

Such a busy family! I sometimes feel like I do the same thing when walking the dog, but it isn't that bad!

Ah such lovely memories. My kids are grown but I can honestly say "Those were the days!" I wish the same for you!

Now your kids are in school, shouldn't you go back to work? I didn't return until last year when one was at university and the other in grade 11! If you substitue soccer, skating and bagpipes, you have a good deal of the story of my life. The walking counts as time with your kids.

I was asked this weekend by a preacher I had just met moments before, "Are you a stay at home Mom or do you work?" I must have looked stunned stupid but I was actually busy silently formulating responses that didn't involve tearing his head off. I simply stammered a lame, "Well, I was laid off a few months ago..."

Despite what everyone thinks about how hard it must be to be a working mom, I actually found life calmed down a lot when I went back to work. Way less running around &, as a bonus, since the kids were in daycare & home so much less, the house stayed much tidier.

Love it! My kids are now able to walk or ride bikes to practices, etc. on their own, but I swear I wore a groove in the sidewalk with the stroller/wagon/bicyles walking back and forth to school.

And the emergency room?? What happened? Everyone OK?

I'm amazed you managed to both hang on to Wee and not send a schoolbag to music or a guitar to the pool!

Spoken like a true "soccor mom"

We moved back to where I grew up, in order to be able to do this...now if only I can figure out a way to work from home...
