serendipity

The miracle wip is a work-in-progress no more!

The miracle yarn (rowan all seasons cotton) held out until the last few rounds of the last tier. So instead of having to knit a whole tier in the dark navy, I just used it to work the little picot edging at the bottom of the skirt. I love it! I wish I could claim that I'd planned it that way.

Wee says it's not "fancy" enough (okay, Fancy Nancy!) but I suspect that she really means it's not pink enough. Once she got a good twirl out of it, she seemed to forgive it for being blue.

That is entirely precious!

I love how the little navy picot brings the whole thing together. I think it might have been a little dull all out of the lighter blue, but this gives it a bit more liveliness.

Maybe she needs a little tulle skirt to fluff/fancy it up a bit. I really love the navy edging.

How cute is she with the twirly skirt and little barette? Adorable!

Adorable - I agree that the little navy trim makes it more interesting.

Yes, I'm with Amanda. It needs a poufy crinoline petticoat! Just a tick longer so it shows beneath. Better make the waistband adjustable...

It looks so pretty with the dark blue trim. I am sure she will love it for the twirliness!

Yes, yes, Amanda and Libby! I have been looking for just such a thing online for a while. But it's hard to find one that's the right length. Most of them are either tutus or for longer gowns. Any suggestions of where to find one?!?!

How funny wee one is with the "not fancy enough", it is a beautiful skirt and she looks wonderful in it. I can't believe how much hair she has, I have followed your blog for awhile and I remember just a short time ago she didn't have any curls.
Very cute. The dark blue is perfect for the picot trim.

Our Costco has those tulle crinolines for little girls right now and I've been very tempted.

I love the navy edging. Another "fancy it up" idea that may work is to thread some ribbons through the eyelets. You'd have to be really careful to have just enough ribbon though, too much would look sloppy and too little would prevent optimal twirling.

This is one Nancy who always hated the 'Fancy Nancy" moniker (and anything 'girly')! But the skirt is very cute!

I enjoy reading about the wonderful relationship you have with your children. Little one is certainly getting big. Lovely skirt.

I think the blue makes her look grown up. Sniff.

lost my blogroll and lost touch with your blog... found it other day when someone I was reading mentioned yours. Oh my how did little one grow up sooo fast.... what a big girl and so cute.

Wow look at that. Beautiful and Wee looks so elegant. I also love the increases, they add more detail to the skirt. Well done!

It's a very cute skirt and I printed the pattern and want to take it on for my own pink princess diva. However the pattern says it's a straight needle knit and you sew up the seam, however I think you knitted it in the round, at least that is how it looked to me. Is that how you did it? if so, how did you modify it to do that? I have no problems knitting it straight, in fact that would be preferred for me.

The skirt turned out beautifully! Don't you love when things just happen to work out like that?
