blue boy

First finished project of the fall finishing fiesta...

This is Kristi's bulky baby bibby knit up in Berroco's Pronto yarn. And I simply can't say enough good things about both pattern and yarn. The pattern was so clever and easy to follow. The garter stitch version would really be an excellent project for a beginning knitter (no shaping, no picking up stitches, no setting in sleeves, and yet it doesn't suffer for the lack of them like some beginner patterns do). I love moss stitch, though, so even though it was more work, I had to work it up that way. And the yarn is extremely soft and just as pleasant to work with. I was worried that it might be too bulky for me. I'm not a fan of real bulky knits. Knit on 6mm (US10) needles, this was as bulky as I go. But I'm getting more comfortable at this gauge. Don't be surprised if you see some more bulky knits from me in the near future!

Finishing fiesta! Arriba, arriba! Count me in. I'm trying to finish my last unfinished project so I can get on with some new projects.

Very cute sweater. Most baby sweaters in bulky yarn look...well, too bulky. This one is charming and original. You did a great job of knitting it up :-)

Very sweet sweater. I like the combination of the 2 blues. Will you send some of those finishing vibes my way please?

So sweet Alison. The moss stitch in the bulky yarn really stands out. I like the bib, too. Lucky ducky baby!

Alison, if you might work on bulky knits in the future, have you seen the designs in the Rowan Plaid book? It's another Kim Hargreaves design book....

Loevly bulky baby! I've made a couple of Kristis patterns but haven't tried that one yet. It looks great in moss stitch and I love the 2 blue colours you used. Very blueblog..

In a word -- so-o-o-o-o CUTE! (awright, that's 2 words...)

Awww, the sweater is adorable! I love babies in bulky knits. They look like little dumplings :).

Thanks for sharing that pattern! I've been looking for some cute quick baby knits other than hats and booties for 3 of my friends who are all expecting babies in Feb/March.

Yours looks great!

Love the blues! How cute, Alison!

Just look at the newest Jaeger book featuring their Natural Fleece and Fur. It changed my mind about bulky knitting.

How adorable! Those blues look fantastic together. Must add that pattern to my "wanna make someday if I can ever finish up all these other WIPs" file-thanks!

Very cute, Alison! I love moss stitch myself. If you like moss stitch, have you had the opportunity to knit linen stitch? A lot of work for a knit stitch but worth it I think.

Geez, while I was on a siesta, you were on the fiesta! And then some! It is gorgeous! I am dancing a salsa for you!
Next????

Thanks everyone! The sweater was a good way to celebrate one year of blue blogging!

Thanks for the book tips, Rebecca and Larry. I haven't seen the Jaeger book yet, but I do like some of the things in the Plaid book a lot. And the yarn is awesome, but oh so out of my budget. Maybe someday.

Teresa, I've admired the linen stitch before in other people's knits and definitely want to try it out sometime. Have to find the right project for it. Perhaps in a coat, something like what you're making?

Sandy, there's much more finishing frenzying to be done!
