a frenzy in the finishing basket

The finishing basket isn't empty yet. But before the fiesta can continue, the remaining projects need some work!

While waiting for my zipper, I sewed in the bands on the front of the ribby. I'm all ready to add that zip, unfortunately it's arrival has been delayed due to a little online ordering form snafu. Next week, I hope!

And here's my progress on the ladybug sweater (The little spots on the bugs aren't so visible in the picture, but believe me they're there. Just feel the need after working three colors in each of those rows to be sure that you know: they ARE there!). One more set of bugs to do and then the steeking and sewing can begin. That last bug row is going to be a bitch though, as the neck shaping begins smack dab in the middle of it and I've got to figure out some neck steek solution to shape it properly and yet not have to knit back and forth (as called for in the pattern - I say "ha!" to that!).

And under these lovelies, at the very bottom of the basket, the second giranimals jacket waits, last touched some six months ago. I pulled the poor, neglected thing out yesterday to see how much needs to be done. Some of the parts are sewn together, but once I've gotten the seaming done, I've still got many hours of embroidery and darning work to do on that crazy giraffe pocket!

The boys were tumbling about on the sofa while I was inspecting the giranimals jacket, and I was amazed at how much they've grown since I knitted these up. When I finished the first giranimals jacket, it was huge on B, but now it'll fit perfectly. I'd better get this finished fast before they grow even more!

Stop it! Stop it, I tell you! I visit you and Wendy and see all this zippy progress on beautiful fair isle and intarsia projects and I can't even make myself sit down and knit a simple neckband because it's on worsted cotton and picking up stitches on worsted cotton is such a drag and, like, every single hole looks as gaping as the opening to the Popocatelpetl volcano and...and...

Just kidding :-)

Can't wait to see the finished giranimals, and that picture of Benny is cute. Wow, has he grown. (And hello, Mr. Alison's Husband at the laptop in the background! Guten Tag!)

Those bugs look so cute! I'm impressed with your attention to detail as well with that fair isle, I just know I wouldn't have the patience for it..

I think you are too hard on yourself sometimes, I often lose such interest after finishing a project I can't imagine having to make 2 of everything!

Oooh, tiny-Benny looks extremely cuddlesome in his giranimals jacket! And you inspire me to go back to my own six-months untouched projects...

I am close to finishing the second of two lady bug sweaters for my grandchildren (girl three years old and boy one year old). I was inspired by how cute your boys look in sibling sweaters. Those bands with the ladybugs were tough, with three colors in one row. If I had to do it again, I think I would duplicate stitch the black dots on the lady bugs. I can't wait to see your little boys in their sweaters. I'm very tempted to knit the two "pipsqueak" sweaters after Christmas for Spring sweater season.

Popocatepetl! You crack me up, Becky!

Barbara, you've made TWO ladybug sweaters? Wow, respect! I really doubt that I'll be making another one, certainly not a toddler size in fingering weight. I think after these two, the boys and I will have graduated to Dale sweaters in larger gauges, thank you very much. I'd love to see yours!

I love the ladybug sweater. I saw it on line somewhere else and fell in love with it and saw a price tag attached to the kit and went "oh, nice but......". So it's great to see someone actually working on it.

By the way, I'm new around the Knit Bloggers and just started a blog and just have been cruising around.

Hope you don't mind my posting.

I feel your pain on the Ribby zipper. Mine came, but its too long....the 18 in. length will work though, so I'm just going to order another one on Monday. Finished Ribbys next week!
