phildar friday

Hey all you Phildar Fillies, how you doing out there? What are you planning on making? Did I miss any Phildar finishing (Claudia?)? Who else has cast on already?? I'm still conflicted about which Phildar project to start first. Instead of deciding, I picked up a couple more Phildar catalogs while I was on the other side of the Atlantic. I particularly like the Irlandais book with aran designs. One of my favorite designs from that book is being offered as a free pattern (in French) on the Phildar site: check it out! I may just have to add that one to my ever-growing list of phildar fashions to make.

With this much indecision, I should be able to make some serious progress on my other projects though. Like my Phildar leftovers vest. How do you like them stripes?!

I like them stripes! (Of course, I liked the last ones, too.) Keep on striping . . .

The new stripes look great. The others looked good, but these look great! Good decision to frog the others and go with these! I can't wait to see the finished product!

Hey,Alison, are you and Kerstin on Phildar ESP? Check her blog (At My Knits End) for her Phast, Phun commentary...

P.S. Love the stripes!

i LOVE the irlandais book too. it's quite lovely. ;)

I love that sweater from Irlandis too! I was thinking of making it with Rowan's new Calmer, since Frimas is nowhere to be found in the USA. Plus, it's acrylic, which doesn't thrill me.

Those colors go so well together and your random striping is lookin' good!

oooh! thanks so much for pointing out the free pattern on the phildar site. i just ordered les essentiels mode today - but didn't spot the free stuff! i know very little french and hope i can manage...that sweater is gorgeous!

Hey Marg, I saw Kerstin's post yesterday and tried to talk her into joining the Phildar knitalong I've got going on, but alas, she's got too many other projects to be a Phildar filly and is content with her little Phildar folly! :)

Oooooh, Laura, I think you've hit on a brilliant idea. The cables in Calmer. Mmmmmm! I'm breaking out the calculator right now to start doing the substitution math.

Oh my god. I love the Aran Book. Do you know where I can get my hands on a version in english? I am in love with like 10 of the patterns. I only have access to the new Autumne mag.

Good stripe placement! I found half a skein of blue. No chartreuse. (Remember my pocket folly ;-)) Is a half skein of blue okay for you?

Alision, there is no clandestine finishing of Pumpkin Spice going on.....Its behind the Wannabe, which is currently behind a furry Bucket. Ever try ripping out two strands wool/two strands fur, in black, after you've steamed! ARGGGGHHH!

Posted by: claudia at November 7, 2003 12:07 PM

My Irlandais book is winging its way to me from Knit N Tyme as I type....so you never know, I may be a filly yet! If you figure out the math on substituting Calmer, be sure to share!

There you have it, Lisa. Looks like Kristine found hers at www.knitntyme.com.

Kristine, I'll be sure to let you know about the Calmer. I'm really smitten with the idea!

Claudia, I'm glad I didn't miss pumpkin spice. The wannabe is looking great!

Wow. I love those stripes Alison, boy you move fast!

My contribution to the Phildar fillies is the blue giboulees sweater which is just waiting for the extra yarn to arrive from ms yarndealer herself and then it will be back underway.

Go Kerrie! Love that crazy giboulees yarn. I keep forgetting that I have some in my stash too. Oh no, yet another phildar project to consider! ;0)

I'm so jealous of you Phildar Fillies. I speak a little French, but no way could i translate a knitting pattern. :( Hope you all get over your colds quickly!
