Crochet slippers all done! Since I just scraped by on the blue yarn, I trimmed them in a contrast color. Then I bought some padded insoles like the pattern calls for (Dr. Scholls, thank you very much!). I couldn't wait until I had the insoles and wore the slippers a few times without them. Ouchie. And I had the crochet pattern on the bottom of my foot. So note to self: you gotta have the insoles. I decided however, not to cover the insoles in felt like the pattern suggested. I think the slippers are lovely enough as they are and I didn't want this becoming some sort of out-of-control craft project! I did sew the insoles in place though so they don't slip around while I'm wearing the slippers.
These slippers are really comfy and surprisingly un-slippery on the hardwood floors. I love them! I wish I wore slippers more, so I could justify making a second pair.

I really need to learn how to crochet don't I? Those slippers look great, I love the contrast trim. I would have been worried about them slipping but if you say they are OK then I of ocurse believe you! Perhaps teaching myself to crochet should be my maternity leave project...
WoW! Those look great! I've sworn up and down I won't learn to crochet, but those are some nice slippers!
Those are some very cute slippers, there.
Great slippers! Where is the pattern from?
Hey, those are fantastic, Alison! (And you are a poet and didn't know it. Punny One!)
those are great slippers... I had to go out and buy that book! I love the contrast color on them.
Love the slippers. They look like something you would have waiting at your bedside at an exclusive spa.
They look great! Love the trim in contrasting color. Good job. You are really going with the crochet. Your finished crochet work is beautiful. Can't believe you just recently learned.
Oh yes, an exclusive spa, that's just what my house is like, Michelle! ;0)
Thanks Kim! Now I feel like I could try out one of the fun projects over at your Crochet Me site.
Well if you really feel the need, you could whip up a size 8 for me, LOL.
Really nice slippers.
Oh Alison...I just love those slippers. I think the contrast edging looks just great. You should join our Sophie-Along even though you've already made yours...You know, just to be in the club!
Hi Alison,
Thanks for visiting my site. I got the crochet magazine at Lewiscraft (not sure if you have that store in the States?--I'm from Canada). It is pretty good as it has a wide range of projects from summer sweaters to purses, ponchos, baby stuff, kid stuff. From what I've read on your site recently I think you would like it. It's a Better Homes and Gardens publication.

Oooh, Alison, those slippers are too cute! I have the book, am going for the yarn tomorrow. Now I just need to remember how to crochet! Thanks for posting the tip for the insoles.
Those slippers are *too* cute!! Have you considered gold tassels on the tops?
Wow, you have actually created something in crochet that I like! Those are wonderful. I used to have very anti-crochet feelings, and I'm still fighting them to an extent. However, I have decided that knowing how to do some basics would probably be helpful in my knitting. I have seen many patterns with a simple, crocheted edging that look very sharp.
Those slippers are really sweet. Perhaps you'll be able to justify making another pair in the fall when your toes start to get chilly? A fuzzy alpaca pair!
Alison,
what can we say? your photography always makes the items very exclusive-looking. would you consider sharing some tips in that area too?
Emy
BRAVO! You have really put your best foot forward now! :) They are lovely! Hmmmmm...they would make great Christmas gifts! Do I feel a christmas slipper along in july?? :) Can't be too early, you know!
Laura, I too wanted to learn crochet so that I could be able to do the edgings that knitting patterns always seemed to call for. But once I looked at the Simple Crochet book, I started thinking that crochet could be cool. These slippers have sold me!
And a big thanks to Georgia for your sweet little crochet flower pattern, which got me started!
Alison, what a brilliant idea to make some warm fuzzy crochet slippers for winter. A perfect excuse to make another pair!
You've inspired me! As soon as I move (2 weeks from today), I plan on making a pair of your slippers! Tks for tips about the insoles and stitching them in place (something I might not have thought of).
Those are such cute slippers. I love the edging in the contrast color!
Great job on the slippers!!!! They look fantastic!!!! I can't wait to get at mine (later on in the fall when i'll really need them for the winter hehe). The contrasting colour really sets them off!!!! ^_^
Wow! Great job! I bought that book a couple of months ago just so i can make the slippers! I attempted 3-4 times and i just couldnt do it(and I've been crocheting for 10 yrs now) What type of yarn did you use and did you double strand? Wow, they look better than the slippers in the book!
Hi Janet! I followed the pattern exactly as far as the yarn goes. HandknitDK doubled, just like she said. It worked perfectly. You gotta try them again! :0)
