cheater!

It's the first of September - is it okay to be knitting Klaralund now?? I want a count of how many of us have already started. Who else is willing to 'fess up?

I will step forward and admit that I started on a sleeve. The body pieces seemed kind of boring, so I thought I'd start one of those fabulous sleeves. And I'd hoped that doing the sleeves first would keep me from fretting over the sizing too much. So all of you who've yet to start and are wondering how a super-long, rectangular sleeve is ever going to work, here's an approximation.

even blurry, I do love these colors

This thing knits up in no time. You sit down, watch a little tv and next thing you know half the sleeve is done. I just can't help myself. Klaralund is on!

I started mine a few days ago, and have about eight inches done on a ciruclar--no side seams for me!

I'm with you on the colours -- ab fab!

So beautiful! I wish it were cold enough here to convince myself I need to knit this, I really love the sleeves! Great colors.

Go check her out, you'll love the haircolour!

I'm glad to know that I'm in good company of those who have already started. Did I tell you that I'm knitting a x-small (or whatever the smallest size is now being called) in the sleeves even though I fnished the front and the back in the 38"? Did you cut any length off or knit up the x-small as is?

I'll try to post later today all of my pieces and I'll do a similar sleeve pose. It'll be the sleeve pose-along.

Love those colors!

I've been searching the whole web (okay, not the whole...) to find out where Klaralund comes from and where I can see or buy the pattern. I am not so slim so I am afraid the beautiful pullover will not fit... Could you please help a lost stranger? :-)

Klaralund is beautiful and those colors are fantastic! I'm now being tempted to join, even though I'm trying to knit practical cardigans for fall since I'm nursing.

nicole...the klaralund pattern comes from the noro cornelia tuttle hamilton #2 book. just google it. the pullover looks doable for "ample-breasted" people et al.

Oh i like the sleeve...I have been dying to start...(audrey must be done, that is my deadline)

Ooooh I think it looks terrific! It gives the perception of a bit of a belled sleeve, because it's so rectangular-y. I love this pattern!

Way to go, speedy gonzalez!

Love that sleeve! Ooh, I'm itching to start Klaralund ASAP, but alas I'm still waiting for my pattern to arrive. Maybe it will come today?

Posted by: barbara at September 1, 2004 11:57 AM

I'm a cheater! I just finished the back. You're right...it goes very quickly :) Love your colors!

Beautiful greens and blues!!
It's going to be a masterpiece.
I can't wait to see it finished!

Very kimono-style, those fab sleeves.

YAY Klaralundecheaters (and not just because I'm also one)! LOL...gee, should I make a CHEATER button, Froggy?

Beautiful Klaralund sleeve. Gorgeous colors.....makes me want to start a new Noro sweater soon. You always have such great projects!

I LOVE the colours of you've chosen. I am so tempted to try knitting this pattern, is it too ambitious for a first sweater attempt do you think?

Posted by: jo at September 1, 2004 6:22 PM

I went out and bought the book just for this pattern because of you gals!!!! Bad, bad, bad....now to save up enough money to buy the yarn!

Posted by: Cheryl at September 1, 2004 6:25 PM

Oh, gorgeous! I might have to consider this one at some point.

Posted by: Kat at September 1, 2004 7:55 PM

Your sleeve is fabulous my dear!! I can't wait to get my yarn. Are you doing it in the round? I don't see a seam. The colors are gorgeous. You can't go wrong with this sweater!

Posted by: Eilene at September 1, 2004 9:07 PM

Thanks, everyone! I am loving this sweater. And I'm happy to enable a few more of you to join up and get started. ;0)

And Jo, this sweater would be great as a first sweater, since there is no shaping whatsoever. It's just 4 rectangles! And the sewing together isn't complicated either. All straight seams. The gauge is very comfortable and the garter stitch pattern keeps it a little interesting. I say go for it!

Eilene, I'm not doing mine in the round - I actually enjoy doing mattress stitch! But I don't see why you couldn't do the sleeves in the round through the 9 rounds of garter stitch marking the start of the "armhole". Doing the body in the round would of course alter the width of the stripes, so I'd definitely recommend doing the front and back flat and seaming them up.

Posted by: alison at September 1, 2004 9:07 PM

No No No!! Quit tempting me. I will NOT google Klaralund. (Is that spelled right? I want to make sure when I goo... oops.)

Posted by: Jane at September 1, 2004 9:25 PM

Pencils (I mean needles) down, please. I'll be the proctor, since I'm not doing the sweater. ;-)

Posted by: Norma at September 1, 2004 11:32 PM

I swear, if you make me knit this sweater by posting pictures and saying nice things and making it seem all fast and easy....

Posted by: Stephanie at September 2, 2004 10:24 AM

Yup, I started. But I figured Sept 1st was close enough. I have a tiny bit of progress on my blog in the same colour that you are doing Alison. I love the way it looks. I was so happy to see that it was just 4 rectangles. Very quick knit! And the Silk Garden feels amazing knit up.

Cheaters unite!
