Final pop sleeve underway. Now for my dilemma. I still can't manage to sew together the top front panels of the pop sweater so that the peek-a-boo opening is actually open and the whole thing looks good. I'm considering reknitting the top of the front as a one-piece scoop or heart-shaped neckline. What'cha think?
And another dilemma. I'm chilly and I want another warm sweater in a hurry. I've got a bag full of bulky yarn waiting to become one. Here's the question: to Banff or not to Banff? Do I make another Banff or do I do something different - maybe Simply Marilyn? Maybe a slouchy cardigan? What'cha think?

I vote slouchly cardigan; the way you knit, you will have it by the weekend. And you can use some cool buttons!
slouchly? Well, that would be one way to make it your own...gotta slow down before I hit that post button!
i actually like the slouchy cardigan. which is odd b/c i only very rarely ever wear stupid cardigans. :)
I like the slouchy cardi too (where is the pattern from?) but if you Banff again, I will too. I missed it the first time around and I'm thinking I may rip my Big Kureyon Astrid and turn it into a Banff!
Well, I vote Simply Marilyn, if only because I'm about to finish the front of it myself and I am deeply in love with it and think everyone should make it.
I vote slouchy cardigan, it looks like you'll have it a lot quicker and it will be more versatile than the Marilyn.
I'd like to know where that pattern comes from as well, got to add that to my ever growing 'to knit' list!

I love Marilyn, but I think you'd probably get more wear from the slouchy cardi! Tough choice - i vote for the cardi, then do Marilyn later! :)
I vote for Simply Marylin!
How can you say no to such a gorgeous sweater?
Add me to the slouchy cardi camp. You already have a Banff, and Marilyn is lovely but not an every day "grab it because I'm cold" kind of sweater. The cardi will go with so much.
i also gotta vote for slouch-ola. looks comfy like banff. also - you can have the buttons i bought at windsor for my PF cardigan that i FROGGED - it was WAY too short....
i like the opening on the POP sweater- give it another shot!
Karen, I almost added Astrid to the list of possiblities, because I loved the one you made so much. So what don't you like about it? too big?
The cardigan is from Phildar 391 - Fall/Winter 2003 (here's a link to Breiweb's page for it). As usual, try KnitnTyme or Threadbear for english versions.
Reknit the neckline into a scoop neckline. And my vote is for slouchy cardi!
I vote for the sloucy cardigan too!
I made Simply Marilyn, and hardly ever wear it because the super-wide neckline keeps on sliding down my shoulders! And this sweater is so heavy that once it starts sliding, it just keeps on going... Frogging the neck and re-knitting it by picking up fewer stitches has been on my to-do list for a little while. I'd say you'd get much more practical wear out of the cardie. (Not that I'm practical myself...)
Slouchy cardigan ~ it's very pretty and comfy-looking. Cozy!
Either Marilyn or the cardie. No need for another Banff. Come on now.
I made the simply marilyn and loved it but I think you might get more use out of the slouchy.btw where can I get the pattern for the slouchy?
I too vote slouchy, and want to join the list of those who wanna know where the pattern is from.
huh, another vote against texas...
personally, i love the look of simply marilyn, really love the look actually. i think it looks beautiful. and as you already have one gorgeous blue banff, i'd have to say marilyn.
yup.
marilyn
Definitely the cardi. It's cute, versatile and not too hot.
I'd go for the slouchy cardigan.
Ilike Marylin and was thinking about knitting it for myself, but the argument with the wide neck makes me think about it.
I like the this cardigan http://www.lanagrossa.de/download/easytrack.php3?id=mdm102004
(this is a .pdf file cause it was tricky to write how to find the online pattern) Its made of the yarn I used for Banff.
The nexr days when yarn and pattern arrive I will start the Blanket you made for your son :)
I think that POP will pop open once you wear it, even if it doesn't look open now. You know, flat on the table is different than on you.
Definitely Slouchy Cardigan or Simply Marilyn. Much more fun to make something new. And I vote scoop neck!
Your post makes me think you want a practical every-day sort of sweater, in which case I vote for the cardigan. I can definitely picture you in that. Maybe save Marilyn for a non-urgent project?
If you're cold do you really want a wide necked sweater? But if you love it, what would you wear under it? That said, I like the slouchy.
I was thinking that maybe that neckline doesn't fully "open" until its actually on the body....maybe?
Quick bulky sweater? Go Slouchy...it will be fun.
:)
May I suggest "Top Secret" (Knitty Fall 2002)? It says it is perfect for knitters wanting immediate gratification :) Turtleneck, bell sleeves, knit in the round with bulky yarn. I have been wanting to make it myself but, as a fairly slow knitter, I haven't gotten to it yet.
I was absolutely going to say Simply Marilyn, then I looked at the slouchy cardigan. Definitely the slouchy cardigan.
Maybe I have been in a cave forever, but I had no idea about the Simply Marilyn pattern! Thanks for the link! - that would be my choice!
I vote for Slouchy. Though I will probably eventually get around to another Banff. Marilyn is nice, too but not as instant gratification as Slouchy.
I guess I'm outnumbered here, but I would vote for Marilyn. I just love Debbie Bliss designs, and this one looks lovely. Lots of people voted against it because of the neck, but if you'd like it less open I know you could easilly change it.
My reason for voting for Marilyn, besides it being a gorgeous design, is that it is quite different from the other things you've made. As far as I can see you've never made an aran sweater for yourself, besides greensleves.
What colour is the yarn you're planning on using??
I'm anti-Marilyn. Not in general, just for you. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's an "Alison" sweater. A different twist on Banff could be cool, since you love it so much, or the cardi would be nice (though we'd have to give it a sexier name!) Can't wait to see what you pick!
I vote for the slouchy -- I think I might have to add that one to my list! Thanks also for the link to the German site with pictures of the Phildar catalogues! I've been on the fence about ording a few of them and so this promises to be helpful.
