ready for yarn

This week the boys helped daddy put the new yarn cabinet together.

what does this do?

daddy, you ready for the door?

Yup, I got me the super-fantabulous, mega-popular Kämpe storage system. We've got slanted ceilings in this room, so I couldn't get anything tall, and what I really wanted was cubbyholes like in a real yarn store. So I got the Kämpe boxes. Love them!

The boys were eager to help me put all my yarn in the cabinet, but after I watched them toss an entire storage box of yarn in random cubbyholes, I decided to wait until they were otherwise occupied to finish the job. And as I stood back admiring my half empty cabinet, I didn't even feel bad about the new yarn that the postman had just brought.

for a future Magknits pattern

Color me happy.

Oooh - that yarn looks gorgeous. I am so glad it arrived safely with you and cant wait to see it all knitted up. I love your yarn storage as well - just what I'm looking for. I'm using blanket boxes at the moment which keep it neat but make it hard to see what you've got without getting it all out.

storage, yarn, and cute carpenters? Who wouldn't be happy?

Only half full---well, you've got to change that, Alison! Love the cabinet!

Mmm, I like KAMPE too, but my baby stash doesn't warrant its very own cabinet. Yet. I used KAMPE for appliance garages in my new pantry - it's tall enough for a mixer.

Oooooh, how I covet the yarn storage! Wow, it is going to be great, and with those panes, you'll be able to see all your luscious colors. I thought it was exciting when I moved into my new house and got a whole closet to myself, but yours will even be on display for others to admire!!!

That is some fine, fine yarn storage.

Love the cabinet system! They'd really look nice in my kitchen. Hmmm. "Matt, get in the car. We're going to Ikea!"

fun! And...what will you be knitting? Possibly the plaid top?

Me=totally jealous. If I had the space that's exactly what I'd need. Very cute pics of the boys helping out. Nothing like a half filled storage unit to encourage stash building :)

I love the storage! I was curious as to which Ikea items you bought. I live about 5 minutes from the Paramus store in NJ and I've been needing yarn and spinning supply storage. I'm going to Ikea!

BTW, I love seeing pictures of your boys. I too have twins, 14 month old boy/girl, and I get a kick out of seeing what's to come.

oooh, jealous! I wish I had the space for a yarn cabinet. Let's see it with yarn inside!

I'm with Jackie...where's the finished picture?! Doesn't that count as a Finished Object?

hey.. i have kampe for my yarn storage system and i have the shelves in the middles with the same white see through doors, but i have 4 big squares across and 4 down for a total of 16!!! I only have the top 8 full of yarn and the bottom is full of fabric and sewing machines knitting books...ect.... i'm so excited for you... i will have to take a picture of mine and send it to you... what fun!!!!

god forbid that i take a picture and actually put it on my blog

Perfect. Now we only want to know what it looks like after your stash moved in. Please!!

I'm with the others! Cute carpenters, great storage units, and please, can we see it with the yarn all in it?? On, please, please, please???

I haven't yet worked up the nerve to post my yarn storage system yet, since it's embarrassingly large, but I too, house most (again, embarrassingly not all) of my yarn in an IKEA unit. Magiker! and Magiker it is. Yours is quite schmancy - perhaps I need a second?

Wish you well to use it. I keep finding ramdom places to stuff my yarn in, till I get to using it.
Isn't in amazing how yarn looks so darn yummy. I love yarn photos.

I'm having serious storage envy. That looks like the perfect solution: glass doors! You can see it all, it doesn't have to be in bags, but stays dust free. And it's good looking. I love the boys' cleaning up for you ;-)
