knitting funnies

Can you tell that I haven't done any knitting in days? The last few days I've been very busy during the day and paying for it at night with a worsening head cold. I spent all day yesterday lying on the sofa and couldn't knit a stitch.

Luckily I had just the right thing to read, Your Disgusting Head (a wacky Christmas gift from ma), which has chapters such as "The Sickening Fluids that Fill Your Skull" and "Where Does All the Snot Come From?". Check out this sample page at Amazon.com! Anyhoo, there I am all snotty and not knitting and I come across a joke "knitting pattern".

it's supposed to be for a tongue cozy - yuck!

And guess what came on the television while I was reading my disgusting book? Why, Monty Python's Flying Circus, of course. With one of those "re-enactment" sketches where the Python gang are dressed up as old ladies who like to act out famous battle scenes. In this one they were doing a submarine battle and three of the "ladies" were knitting!

looks like Jones (2nd from left) and Idle (far right) may actually know how to knit!
Palin (in red hat) doesn't have a clue though

So that gave me a little chuckle, which brought on a coughing fit and got my runny nose going again. And so it goes.

Well, here's wishing everyone a happy and HEALTHY new year!

Alison - Hope you're feeling better soon!

Leslie

P.S. In the new year, will you be able to reveal the secret, multi-colored project that you were working on in Germany this summer -- it was most colorful!

Oh I hate colds...people at work are getting sick one after the other. I can almost see the germs in the air waiting to get me. I hope you feel better soon!

Happy New Year, Alison!!

Wishing you a great/healthy new year. Perhaps you'll be sleeping it away, rather than partying? There's always next year. Or will you stock up on dayquil and suck it up? :)

Me, party? Nah, I'd be relaxing on the sofa even if I wasn't under the weather. I wouldn't turn down some DayQuil though! :)

A Monty Python fan - I'm so proud! :D

Oh, those British books! I loved the Horrible Histories when I was over there. Have you seen them? They're available here now. But the authors for yours: Drs. Haggis-on-Whey!!! What a hoot! And that pattern! I need it, I need it!

Oh, I love the tongue cozy pattern--hilarious! And Monty Python -- those guys were/are something else, aren't they? At least you were smiling thru all the snot....

Feel better soon & happy new year!

ooooh. We must be channeling each other. I was home yesterday with my head filled with gunk and I'm back at work today where even the keyboard strokes sounds are killing my head, since, well it's still filled with gunk. here here to the *healthy* new year!! ^_^

When it comes to disgusting heads, ignorance is bliss, I say. Feel better soon.

Zinc, zinc, zinc - always helps me. Feel better & Happy 2005!

Cheers! Take a load off! After looking at all the knit-a-longs on your page, take two and don't come back till you're better for the brand new year! Oh and I miss those guys (Monty Python) and kept thinking of the movie "The Life of Bryan" and the song that I think Eric Idle sang at the end ("Always look on the bright side of life..." - at least I think got the movie, song and the actor right).

Dear Alison,
hope you get well soon (I just recovered from some evil bacterias that my 4 year old daughter brought home from kindergarden)! And I wanted to let you know that I enjoy reading your blog very much!
Greetings from Munich,
Gaby

The "secret" project (your new vest) looks great!
Tks for letting us see the finished project (hope you're feeling better)!

feel better soon! :)

Posted by: maeve at January 1, 2005 11:26 PM

hehehe...well 1st, get well soon.
2nd, when my dad sees me knitting he will ask if I'm waiting for the heads to roll...(b/c during the French revolution that's what the peasants did when they were excuting the aristocrats)
It's just my dad's humor.
As for me I had a little catasrophy that I still need to post about. My son took a fancy to the needle and pulled it out stright clean...I couldn't pick up the sts and had to frog back to row 7 and begin all over again, oy...so I'm still just a 1/3 way done of the front. Oh well.
(he sucks on the ball of the needle as if it was a lolipop)

Heh - sadly, I'd still be amused to find out what the result of actually "following" that knitting pattern would be, LOL...
