if it's a bell curve for people who have any educated guess of what you are designing for magkntis..i'm in the far left region....
and I for once, am not even on the chart!!
I bite. I am ten kinds of curious to see what you're working on. Just learning the basics of sweater design right now, myself, so I'm fascinated by the chart...
I'm so glad to see this! I wondered how designers decided how many stitches, decreases, etc. were needed for the different sizes without having to actually knit a sweater in each size!
Now that is interesting. I've yet to design a sweater of my own, so I like to see how it's done.
So do you draw the curve of the sleeve first, and then draw in the stair-steps of increases/decreases?
How do you decide how big it should be?
Excuse my ignorance...just quite curious about design.
Hey, missed the fun yesterday. I completely understand about the going out dilemma. We used to eat at a restaurant about once a week, now, it's delivery pizza, if that. So. . . what did you do for your anniversary?
Love to see into the mind of the designer... graph paper is COOL.
Ooo! A fibre engineer at work! I can't wait for the 2-D abstraction to manifest into a 3-D reality!
Okay, I've got to lay off the late night caffeine and/or reading of academic texts.
Are you using one of the sweater design programs to generate your design or are you mapping it out by hand?
I have always wondered if any of the software was actually worth it. If you have played around with any of the software I would love to hear more.
Thanks - Kitty Kitty
I'm curious about the sleeve design as well. I haven't found a good reference for that sort of thing yet. How do you decide exactly what shape to make it?
Anyone interested in sleeve design should check out Jenna's incredible artciles at Knitty. The first on sleeves in general and drop-shoulder styles is here and the second on set-in sleeves is here.
