isa, turn the heel; turn the heel, isa

To all you mothers out there who have been forced to watch Dora's Pirate Adventure, I apologize. I simply cannot turn the heel of a sock anymore without having this ridiculous song in my head!

I'm still shazaam'ing my way down the foot as best I can. It's been a really fun challenge trying to keep this pooling going the way it has so far. But my favorite thing by far about the socks has to be the Gems Opal yarn I'm using for the heels and toes. This yarn is such a pleasure to work with. It has a wonderful hand and knits up smoothly and evenly. I can't wait to get some more and make a whole sweater with it like Grumperina did (I hope you clicked over to her site, because her sweater is fabulous!).

"I'm turning the heel; I'm turning the heel!"

Ha! I choked on my tea when I read your post. I recently took my nephew to see the Pirate Adventure LIVE at Radio City. Um, talk about a broken record. I could not do ANYTHING for weeks without one or another of the songs in my head. And, I don't watch it on my own (seriously) so I only had that one storyline to play with. Oh, the Wiggles get caught in there, too. Hot Potato Hot Potato is quite popular in my brain.

Definitely cool socks!!!

aaarrrgh! Now that SONG is running through my head! Maybe if I can get the Boy to watch the Wiggles I can displace Dora with "Fruit Salad (yummy, yummy)".

Love the socks. The colors are delicious.

Lovely socks Alison!! You know, Gems Opal is the *generic* yarn used by the ladies at Koigu so Gems Opal = Koigu = superwash wool! WOOT!!

I had to laugh my butt off at the "Isa Turn the Heel". I have watched that movie so many times!

The Dora phase is almost over in our house. All things Pixar are big here. "Scary feet, scary feet. Kids awake, kids asleep. Twins in a bunkbed." I miss Dora. The Wiggles I can live without. I am so glad the socks pooled similarly. You know, I thought you were doing like a Jar Jar Binks thing with the "isa"--I am that removed from Dora.

Hi Alison, thank you for your compliments! Louet Gems is just... wonderful. I'm happy to see that you're enjoying it. Yes, make a sweater out of it - joy in every stitch. It is easily my favorite superwash wool. I've only used the Opal (sportweight) so far, but have plans to use the fingering and worsted weights, too :).

At least it got Boingy Bing out of my head (from Dora's Fairytale Adventure). Oh wait...dang it!
