look ma

I am big!

The Harry Potter scarf is growing up. Sniff, sniff. I remember when it was just a wee little thing. (Hee, hee.) Its growth spurts have stopped for a bit though while I await the arrival of more yarn.

If only I could slow those boys down a little too.

How cute! My HP scarf is on it's way to becoming an HP stocking cap. What can I say? I lost the will to knit a long tubey scarf. No doubt I will be punished.....

Aw - the boys are just adorable. Having two non-stop boys myself, I recommend a small exercise trampoline for (single) jumping and general getting-the-energy-out. Saved me many a rainy day!

It's as wide as one of your children! That's a big scarf.

Kathy, great idea. In our new place (we move in next week) the back yard is actually big enough for a trampoline. For my son. Uh, yeah. Not for me...no. ;)

I've been coveting your HP scarf for a little while now and I think that picture may have pushed me over the edge. Your boys are so cute!

My daughter has requested HP scarves for my two grandsons - who appear to be about the same age as your boys. This is an unusual request. My DIL is addicated to FLEECE. Thus, I rarely get an opportunity to knit for the boys.
Now for the difficult question. My DIL is also a stickler for authenticity (I adore her, BTW).
Is your scarf pattern the "authentic" model, or your very delightful interpretation? Gorgeous scarf, but I need to get it right.

I am making a traditional HP scarf and have not made the wonderful progress that you have but I will be there soon.

Yours looks great!

They are just adorable! The scare is swanky too! Love the Harry Potter idea...may have to do something like that to wear with my jeans this winter...I am a huge Harry Potter fan (I know, I'm a dork!)

You are knitting that in the round, right? Looks great and the boys do too!

What a wide scarf! That'll be nice and warm whenever warmth is needed. What cuties! :)

Judith, mine is the "authentic" version. Since this is a model for the store it's got to be right. It'll be over 7ft. long (13 repeats of the gold stripes) when it's all done! I'm adjusting for my gauge, but basically following the pattern worked out by the HP expert over at http://knit.atypically.net/scarves/azkaban/pattern.shtml.

Yup, Kathleen, the HP scarves are knit in the round.

Wish I were a kid when these Henry Potter books and movies came to be. Yup, after seeing one movie (I believe it was the first) I was hooked! Guess that makes me a big kid at heart. Keep on knittin' that scarf!

'Scuse the error, it's Harry Potter not Henry Potter! What was I thinking!

Posted by: Shirley at June 7, 2005 10:29 AM

My goodness. Can they get any cuter?

W. :)
