Just about to start the twelfth stripe and the Harry Potter scarf is already as tall as me. Or one boy standing on a bench with his arms up in the air.
I have to say, I've got a little crush on this scarf. Of course, it's for the store and not for me. As much as I like Harry Potter, I probably wouldn't wear a Harry Potter scarf ever. But I've truly fallen for this maroon color (as evidenced by my having started a t-shirt in exactly the same color). And I think I'm finally sold on long scarves too. They seemed silly to me before, but all I want to do now is wrap this long tall drink of scarf around my neck.

I'm a big advocate of the long scarf. My daughter has one I knit up in a very cheap cotton yarn (for washability & in case it would get lost); in the winter she uses the long scarf instead of a hat/scarf combo. She wraps her head up and then winds it around her neck and claims to be much warmer because it ends up covering cheek and the back of her head.
The scarf is looking fabulous (and tall!). (sniff) It's so touching when they grow up . . . at least your knitting display rack had to stand on a bench to be tall enough to show it!
Its so beautiful! I don't know if I would wear it either, but my 10 year old cousin who is a HP addict sure will!
Your little one looks so cute holding it up for you :)
My HP scarf is about 8 feet long. I tell people that if I'm ever stranded in the woods with only my scarf, I can unseam it and use it as a blanket. :)
I confess I'm 27 and I wear a Harry Potter Scraf that my Mom knit me every winter. I love it and I think its one of the things that sparked my interest in knitting.
I love your scarf! It would be great for the Toronto winters!

Now that's a lot of store credit!
Looking good! I really like the new style of HP scarf, and I agree with you- that maroon color is pretty.
I had no idea that was for the store. Kinda sad after all that knitting to not be able to enjoy it, but I have to admit I probably wouldn't wear a HP scarf either. I have always loved long scarves, there's so much more to work with.
now that's a mighty fine looking scarf!
That's a great looking scarf. Maybe you don't need a HP scarf (and I'm totally with you on that - I have a Ron sweater, but I just can't see myself wearing an HP scarf), but scarves are so much fun. Maybe you need a plain maroon one. That would be so pretty on you and I love being able to bundle all up in a big scarf. It's like a big hug.
Might I suggest some Manos? Yum!
That is a lot of scarf. Looks wonderful!
I love long scarves too... always enough excess to do whatever you want with it. To me, it's got to be big enough to double up and knot in the front.
I knitted myself a hugely long scarf for my trip to Ireland last year. I love it, it's so long it drags on the ground if I don't wrap it around my neck and it's so much fun.
My husband wants a Dr. Who scarf, but admits he'd never wear it so I doubt I'll knit it for him, but hmmm, maybe I'll knit it for me!
I wear mine all the time! Like to the book release on July 16th, but also around town. The length and width of mine really dwarf me, making me feel like a kid again. (Okay, so maybe I still am a kid. It makes me feel more like an elementary school kid than a uni kid.)
i love the color combination. may I ask why is it so long? i thing i would trip over it. i'm shopping around on ebay for sock yarn...been loocking at some cotton regia and opal yarn. i considered whta you used, but rowan and koigu seem expensive for me right now...i might pick up rowan in England...when i go in august...but i can't wait till than for the sockaplooza...
Your clapotis looks beautiful! And I LOVE that yarn!!
Dontcha just feel fabulous and fashionable in a super long scarf? Tres chic!
