I also went back to my Cashsoft anklets and shortened them a bit. I'd made them a smidge too long and they stretched out another smidge with wear. I decided that two smidges too big was too much. So I opened those toes back up and reknit the toe an inch earlier. If you're planning on using the Cashsoft, you might think about making your socks a little snugger than you usually do.
Happy ankle sock knitting everyone! As you can see by the short-row pictures, I'm already enjoying making another pair. I'm using some cotton Sockotta that Deb sent me. Thanks, Deb!

people who make socks...
Those anklets are adorable. Thanks for posting the pattern, I can't wait to make myself a pair.
Those socks are great! Thank you for posting the patter and the helpful notes/links. I feel like I receive a free gift when the pattern is posted...it's very generous of you and I appreciate it :) I've not had success with short row heels, maybe this time I will. Thanks again :)
wow Alison that is very kind of you, awesome instructions
I LOVE them! They're so cute!
oooooooooh....and i've got a spare skein of 'socks that rock' with no plans....verrrrry tempting!
*must...complete...sockpal...socks...first...* ;o)
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the tutorial. I'm starting my very first pair of socks and am struggling to use the PG-R method, but she just doesn't give enough pictures for me to really "get" it. I'm going to sit down with your tutorial and finally conquer it! (Did I say thank you?) Debbie
Thank you for posting this now! I have two 5h plane flights in the next week and a half and have some socks to make... I think I might take my comfort zone dpns and a skein of koigu! I can't wait to try that heel!
Thank you so much for the pattern and the tutorial - I have one skein of Koigu in my stash that is screaming "I want to be Alison's ankle socks".
Thanks for sharing your pattern, I don't really enjoy short rows but I think this will give me a new opportunity to try them out and hopefully succeed. Also thanks for sharing that a skein of Koigu is enough yarn for size 10 feet, hey we have something in common! LOL! ;)
Ah, just what I have been waiting for! I am all over these!
Great pattern/tutorial! I can't wait to try a new short row method. I love the look but hate the one hole I inevitably end up with. The Spun link is great too :)
Thanks for the pattern! I have been anxiously awaiting it! I'm already halfway down the foot of my first footie!
Thanks for the pattern, Alison! I love love love shorty socks. :)
Thanks so much for the pattern. I am going to get some cashcotton for this cute sock!
Yea! I'm glad you like it. Thank you for the instructions and all the links! It's going to be a sock-y summer:)
Thanks for the great pattern, I'm definitely planning to make them.
very cute. I think that when I branch out into socks I'll make some like yours
You are talented and generous and very very sweet!
Thank you for sharing the wonderful sock pattern!
I will send a photo of my first pair!
Gratefully,
Donna
Alison,
I have never knit socks before...do you think your pattern would be a good one to start with? Or perhaps there are some beginner sock patterns out there that you or other folks know of? I'm kind of clueless :)
Thanks,
Cristina
Yeah! I am so excited about these! Finally a pattern for the only sock I wear! Thanks.
thank you for the pattern - as soon as my sock needles are free, I'll have a pair cast on!
Thanks, Alison, for the lovely pattern. I had an urge to make these about a month ago. I started the cuff, and then I wasn't quite sure how to proceed on the heel and put the project on hold. Thank you for ending the hiatus and providing me with such clear instructions!
Another reason to keep polishing my stellar short-rowing technique...and to shop for more Koigu! :) So generous of you to post the pattern!
Cristina, for a beginner, I'd recommend the "beginners patterns" and "links for beginners" I've listed in my sidebar under "sockapal-2-za". They are links for the beginners in my sock exchange. Most people start with a heel flap sock pattern, which is the standard way of making socks. There's just more "how to"'s out there for that sort of a sock. So that's probably your best bet for your first time. But if you're feeling adventurous, then give the short rows a try!!
Best of luck!
Thanks a lot for the pattern and wonderful tutorial.
