half empty or half full?

Either way you look at it, I'm almost done with the last katy sleeve!

half full for sure! BTW is that all the yarn you have left? Love the hat and scarf from Wednesday! Chrs

Yup, that's all the yarn I have left! It's going to be close, but I'll make it. I couldn't have made the sweater or those sleeves a single inch longer.

Wow--that's cutting it close! You probably saw that Claudia did the same thing with her Hopeful recently. She even weighed her remaining yarn to make sure she didn't make her sleeves too long.

Way to take charge of your knitting!

Thanks for all the links and patterns re Harry Potter. My daughters will be happily knitting away at Hufflepuff scarves very soon.

Mmm, mmm, mmm. I have been loving those bouncy cables.

She looks great! I was wondering (from a while back) what is the best way to rip back for cables? I'm working on Hope from Rowan 29 (in ASC too!) and need to rip, but am worried about the twists and cables and getting them back onto the needles right - do you put your needle in further down then rip? (Not sure the best way to do this with twists every other row! I can't wait to see her modeled in all her glory!

Wow she's so pretty with all those cables. So snuggly and fluffy looking - what yarn did you use? (I'm terrible... could probably look back in your archives) I really admire how you set the goal of finishing all these projects and are really getting it done! What next for you? :)

I just had to say that I really admire you. You are so busy with your work and your kids and your blog, yet you crank out the knitting like crazy! I've been lurking on your blog for a while and am a relatively new knitter. You are definitely my inspiration! I have started my first sweater and I look forward to the days I can be as fearless as you!

I'd like to know how in the world you knit so fast?! Katy looks ab-fab Alison, great job!

absolutely beautiful stitching!!

Posted by: rebecca at September 9, 2005 12:42 PM

Laura, the yarn is Rowan's all seasons cotton. I'd never have thought to use this yarn for cables, but someone in my knitting group made a cabled sweater with it (it may have even been this sweater!) and it looked sooo awesome that I was inspired not only to get some more asc, but to do cables again!

I'll be updating my works in progress page soon (once I finish Katy) with all the next projects in the pipeline.

Hmmm, Stacey, I guess I just watch as I slowly rip the last row out to see if it was a twist row or not. If it's a WS just after a twist row, then you really gotta worry about getting the stitches back on the needle in the right order. Ripping back to right before the twist would be easier, yes. If you're twisting every other row, then I'd recommend ripping back to where you're about to do the twist again (next row RS) and take your time getting those stitches back on correctly.

This is looking just gorgeous. I can't get over how wonderful everything about this sweater is--the color, the cables . . . even the name! (Well, my last, very dear dog was named Katy--I'm biased.) Just . . . great. Can't wait to see the finished product!

I love that color. And the cables. I can't wait to see the finished product!

Hi there...

Just wondering if I can still join the 'Another Weasley'-along... I just finished a HiP scarf in Gryffindor colors, and will soon be working on two Ravenclaws and another Gryffindor for friends, as well as a full-size Gryffindor for myself. *whew*

Lovely work on the Katy sweater! It's starting to get me thinking about trying cables myself.

Oh for pete's sake... just looked at the list and realized I'm already there. *sheepish*

Thanks!
