shrug

Well, what do you know, it's a finished shrug! The lace blocked out quite a bit, so with the six inches or so that I added, the sleeves reach to about the base of my thumb. I would have been happy with anything from wrist to knuckles, so I'm thrilled with this length. And I so love that the whole thing is unsymmetrical and freeform. Especially in the back.

The lace pattern makes the shrug seem fancy but the irregularity of the pattern keeps it from being too serious. It's just a delightful piece.

When I put it on yesterday, the boys noticed it right away. S touched it lightly and said, "is that your new sweater? It's so pretty." Sweet boy. And B, holding his own feather and fan blankie, took one look and said, 'it's just like my blankie!" Smart boy.

So--did you get the tshirt to match the shrug, or the yarn to match the tshirt? Looks fabulous!

That looks great. I'm overdue a visit to DY, so I may put that on my list of next projects. Though, right now, its about a foot long!

Very beautiful. The extra length really adds to the look of it.

I've been anti shrug, but you've changed my mind!
I love it - the colors, the flowy fit, and especially the long bell sleeves and the random stripes. Its fab. Might even get working on one for me sometime - if I ever finish my husband's sweater!!

What a beautiful shrug. I might be lured into doing the shrug thang with this lovely pattern.

It's simply beautiful and the whole idea of the irregular striping in the pattern is so imaginative and great!

Alison, that is quite nice. I agree that it's sort of funky-glam. The back especially looks great!

I love it!

Oh, it's just beautiful! I love the irregular whimsy of it, the color, the pattern . . . just, everything! Great job.

That came out lovely! It reminds me of the ocean.

Your project came out beautifully. I'm more a symmetrical kind of girl myself, but I definitely could get into like this. Well done!

It's gorgeous!

That is SO pretty!! The sleeves are the perfect length and width, and it has just the right amount of "back coverage" (something that really bothers me about a lot of shrugs I've seen). Plus the color is beautiful, and the drape... sigh, I think I might have to buy yarn and make one for myself. ;)

Wow! That looks great :)

I have some adrienne vittadini yarn I want to make something like that with. Debating if I'll need a contrast shade. It's that fuzzy wool stuff with sequins in it!

It looks fabulous, and the colour is great, matches your t-shirt perfectly. I predict an increase in knitters knitting shrugs in the next few weeks!

About the wee sockies: I will try like crazy to get to the P.O. tomorrow before it closes. I may not, due to a last-minute temping job. I want to warm my pal not to worry--I ay have to get them in the mail on Sat, and sorry!
